Post by Flower »

Does anyone play this type of char ? If so can you tell me the set up and the pros and cons of it?
Thanks

Taming
Lore
Music
Provoke
Lockpicking
Magery
resist

Now this is a monster on monster temp that may be an end time goal for you.

If you can provo mobs then clean up with your Wyrms/Dragons to keep them from being injured it's not only a good money maker but it will amp training on your crew with little risk of injury. Make a Vet,Healer, Identifier,Gater with Hide and post him at your stable of choice.

It's not a good temp for confrontation in itself as you want to conserve mana and there is no melee skill. But it licks dungeons clean.

You may want to team up with another character who has cartogrophy for T-maps and maybe a Tank mage for security.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and ask you not to do this.

Tame/Lore/Vet
mage/Med/Lockpick/Carto

If you really want to be both tamer and tmapper.

Provocation can be good on a tamer, but its really not as beneficial as say, vet. It really only saves you a bit on bandaids and limits what you can hunt because without healing, you require 2 monsters to spawn.

depends where you hunt really...
and again I stress its not a soloist temp.

If you have one or two extra people hunting with you...maybe even another tamer who had vet...it's a crowbar for a vault.

One of the reasons they implemented friending pets is because tamers being wrapped in all these skills needed to work together.

Then why not hunt as a tamer, with a bard and a cartographer?

That way, each of the characters arent completely usless by themselves.

Its not a useless temp...

I said it was very beneficial for tamers to work together "Matron" and most Tamers dont have Bards "Matron" so stop being snoody.

Not everyone needs to have a cookie cutter temp that stands alone. With two tamers having friended each others pets if one dies the other can take control of them and have a better chance of getting them back alive if something happens.

So find a friend who would do the normal vet but add cartography on their tamer...tell someone about your plan.

Two tamers one which is a provoker taking out a high level chest their lonesomes would be cake. Wouldnt have to split the pot as much.

The thing is about character generation you want to build a team once you are in good company....do some testing.

Maybe even do a Dragon Hunter Guild...fit with Dragon Ships and promote the skills you have as treasure hunters for those people who cant find nor crack the chests from the devious maps that they found they couldnt decipher and promise them security?

Sure Gating is faster but its not nearly as awesome.

Well I have not played a tamer here or in the t2a era and I didnt know how important vet was. But thanks for all the different view points. :)

As a tamer you should see saw skills on the way up...you will diminish as your pets will increase over time. The idea I gave to you was an end time goal once you have made some contacts. Don't be discouraged about trying new things especially if they seem unconventional. Most people are afraid to try something different.
