Housing

Post by ijinikko »

HOw disappointing is the housing ? There isn't that many people on the server, where you cant even find a place to lay a brick house. This sucks, why is it like this?

:( Im sorry.

I hope you at least understand that this is a very good sign of the health of this shard.

One day you wont be able to place even a small house. This also will be a great thing for T2A.

Well in all fairness. It's not purely a "healthy shard" issue.

When each player can potentially place 15 houses. This inevitably happens. Will it be addressed in the future? Who knows.

What would need to be addressed? I see zero problems with zero housing space. :D

The problem is, new players are less likely to stay when they can only drop a 7x7. Or worse, when they can only buy a 7x7 from someone.

As for housing space, there is plenty of room for a large brick. I found at least three spots that a tower could be laid on in my quick search, and this EXCLUDES Ice Island and swamp areas (both of which I think are just kind of unappealing in an aesthetic sense). I'll sell you a large brick location for 25k that can also fit a tower in case you want to upgrade down the road. PM me.

I should also add, I placed my tower a few days ago and then found a Greatly Worn tower nearby in a nicer looking location. So when that tower fell, I let others loot the stuff from it and just focused on placing my own tower there, and had no problem doing so.

Older players are more likely to stay if their houses are valuable.

Zero Housing also creates a housing market like OSI had, Any house is valued at more than the deed.
Larger houses would get significant premiums as well.

Anyway if new players are such a concern we should have skillball handouts.

There is SOOO much room for housing, when players say that there isn't I can only lawl, just run around the world, there is loads of housing by Yew & Trinsic, Destard area etc, and if you cant find a spot you like, camp an idoc and place there, in the past 4 days I have seen a keep spot, 2 brick spots and a L shape spot open up solely because the houses that were there fell, but again that doesent include all the spots in the world, I should start offering my service "house placements" 10% the deed price to place the house!

I haven't done any looking, really, so I'll take your word for it, Wise.

But I think we need to do need some regular surveying of the land just to make sure we are aware of current housing availability and not just always assume housing now is the same as it was a month ago, was the same as a year ago, etc.

I guess we're just arguing theory, but... I could give a rat's ass if older players houses are valuable. Older players have tons of stuff anyways, and are already well invested in the shard.

How many companies or businesses out there say "Well forget about new customers. What we want to do is make it harder for someone new to buy our product, and easier for people who already buy it to keep buying it." That's insane.

So by this logic shouldn't we add skillballs?

One of the things that kept me around on Atlantic during T2A so long was attempting to first get a house (these usually ran 60k+ for the crappiest of locations). Then getting one in a good spot, then upgrading my e-peen.

Even to have a 7x7 back in the day was a status symbol, (as they allowed one house per character back then also). To own anything larger than a 7x7 one had to truly work for it. I think the housing adds to the economy and gives something for people to work towards.

Also what's the big deal? Anyone can go place a tower right now if they'd like, are we trying to help newbies be able to get a castle for the price of a deed now? I believe only a select few should have castles and keeps on the shard as it should be a status symbol and I am glad almost all (if not all) keep spots have tried up.

(for reference I own 3 7x7 and nothing larger so I am not advocating for my own personal wealth)
