Era Accuracy or not...

Post by poogoblin »

I know this has been brought up before, but...

Please revert the patch to make bandaids one at a time, this changes nothing in gameplay except makes it less frustrating for dexxers (like they don't have enough against them here).

I know it is era accurate, but so is housing security and we have decided to omit that, based on enjoyment of the game, all this bandaid patch does is make it less enjoyable for dexxers. Isn't it enough that healing isn't based off dex but a flat 15 seconds?

If you don't feel like cutting them yourself, there are shops such as mine that sell them cut for your convenience. :)

I don't feel like having only one secure container in my 7x7, do you have a shop for that?

Sorry. You can do like me and start saving up for a larger house.

I'm not you're average razor-slave power-gamer. I like to create a character, play it, and enjoy it.

I don't horde bulk resources or macro through the game until I'm 7x GM thinking that's all there is.

I work 40 hours a week and am taking 24 college credits, so I'm not a power razor gamer or whatever either. What does any of this have to do with bandages being cut one at a time or by the 100s besides inconveniencing dexers before thy go out on the field? This is totally off topic

We believe that "proper" gameplay can only be achieved by taking the era as a whole and accept it for what it was. Tampering with the era in hope of achieving balance is not something that we will do, nor do we believe is achievable across all playstyles. Diversity of players and playstyles is a necessity of a healthy shard. Every type of play depends on another, and this is why UO is absolutely the greatest MMORPG ever crafted.

If this is the card that is going to be played why is the housing phase from Nov '99 omitted?

Doesn't take a genius to figure this out:

Razor macro
Doubleclick scissors
Wait for target
Target cloth
Loop

Seriously, farm all your cloth, run the macro while you are at work, at school, or even sleeping. Learn to do the fun stuff while you play, and macro the tedious/boring stuff when you don't have time to play.

Nov '99 is our cut off. I guess it could have been the other housing system but it's not. Cutting bandages one at a time however is accurate to the entire era, very much unlike the comparison to the housing system.

Yet we have potion kegs and runebooks from the same patch?

It is a gameplay/mechanics decision to leave the housing the way it was, or else the Nov patch would be an "all or nothing"

Seriously, you want to open the housing debate again because you have trouble cutting bandages one at a time?

Cutting bandages one at a time was the way it was the whole duration of T2A. You have razor and 2 other accounts you can access, RUN A STINKING MACRO!

I primarily play a dexer and yes, this change does impact me, but it is the way it was when I played in 1999.

The housing system has been debated several times and you know what? There's no turning back what was already introduced because that change is deeply tangled with houses and refreshes.

Several people stand to lose their investements by changing what was already vetted and put in place as far as housing.

I tell you what, look up the thread I started on this very topic. You'll see where I advocated for a pure CUB Phase II housing system but was reasoned out of it.

I saw the difficulty of the problem and found that it out weighted any minor inaccuracy. I can hardly see where cutting bandages one at a time could come close to being an issue to reopen housing.

The issue dexers experice can be fixed by a 5 minute macro and a alt.

An interesting note: One of the reasons I suggested that UOSA move to a pure CUB Phase II housing system was to head off comparisons like this.

It really doesnt take that long to cut bandaids if you use a razor macro guys, come on. You have three accounts to use, so just run another client in the backround while you play on your main.

Edit-Posted right after Kraarug, so yea what he said.

I hate to see the discussion on runebooks and pot kegs opened again. I concur on these two issues and also hous co-owners are slightly out of our target timeframe, but still not completely out of era.

I do not know if these three items will be addressed in the future or not, but either way there are a lot of accuracy issues (mostly minor) that could be raised that are on a big list on things to be done.

The argument that this should be made era inaccurate because this other thing isn't accurate is really not in line with the goals of the shard, which is to be as accurate as practically possible, whether convenient or not.

Rather than go into the reasons why runebooks and potion kegs are on the shard here, I'd prefer people search previous topics on the subject.

You can actually google this one, the topics were so popular:
http://www.google.com/search?q=second+a ... s+accuracy

I really do appreciate concerns being raised on mechanical accuracy, but please for the sake of the accuracy and not in leverage on other issues.
