People stay on ice isle out of convenience (but its real real slow) you actually need to find your target creatures for your shown skill level...
Here is a link that can help you out.

Here is what I have done my taming career here:

Code: Select all

Guide for Leveling:
0.00 - 30.0 Train at NPC
30.0 - 35.1 Hinds & Timber Wolfs Moonglow Island
35.1 - 53.1 Walrus & Polar Bears Dagger Island
53.1 - 59.1 Snow Panthers Dagger Island
59.1 - 65.1 Great Harts Moonglow Island or T2A
65.1 - 71.1 White Wolfs Dagger Island
71.1 Bulls Delucia
I'm currently at 75.7
When you play with fire, there is a 50/50 chance something will go wrong, and nine times out of ten it does.

Hah at GM Tamer in 8 days.

Maybe - MAYBE - if you had an established char supplying money, heals, regs, etc, and played 24-7. It took me 5 hours of solid taming with minimal interruption to go from 99.5 to GM. But as a first character on a shard? Heck no.

And double-hah at 100-150k per hour!

At my best, I could probably average 60k per hour right now. And that's if I'm doing nothing else and completely focusing on farming. And of course, that doesn't include prep time (buying regs, bandages, getting meat, etc).

BTW, what's your tamer's name, Robot? I just want to know which tamer I run into on the shard is the one giving us all a bad name here. I try to be polite to the fellow tamers I bump into, but in your case I think I'd like to make an exception.

Don't over sensationalize. I'm giving no one a bad name. At least 1 person here saw part of my post as a joke and you decided to try some power play for popularity here. Do what you have to do...just don't try to persuade someone to drop the tamer idea while saying it isn't worth it , when it obviously is.

i started my tamer at 50 taming and 50 lore. I was sun burnt on a beach so couldn't do anything on vacation so all i did was tame....my vacation was only 2 weeks and i was farming with my tamer by the second week.

R- was attacking me 50 % of the time and i still didn't stop. I get that you don't have an extremist skill building mind set and being i couldn't do anythign else....that is ALL i did . I didn't even have recall until i was taming in fire dungeon, i had someone gate me to places.

It's not just that Rob..alot of the people who are tamers have Pks to keep you from getting your pets so you'll stay away from their coveted taming and then their hunting grounds later.

Having stealthed every higher end spawn and spying on the schematics of things those associated themselves a great deal more with taming such as Ace and MHK will be patrolling/ghosting places like Destard and Covetous.

While your PVPers will be in your more dangerous spawn areas.

The "everyone has his own squad of PKs" thing is really a turn down on this server.
It builds an athmosphere of absolutely trusting noone and not even try it.
It seems like every time you actually meet someone in the game outside towns, 3 mins later a Red appears to attack you.
I just don't get what is the benefit of killing tamers training skills over and over with them not even defending themselfs.
Will they stop ? I would guess no.
Is there so few spots you can go with a tamer, so the fear of "losing" a spot to another tamer for 60 minutes is reasonable?

Really all that and what I experienced as of yet is not really making this shard appealing.

Noone argues about being PKed from time to time .. that is UO. But the "schematics" that were mentioned ealier in this post really are a downer for the overall "fun benefit".

What makes all this curious is that this server has like 1/3 of the population of a normal OSI server, but you feel like it is almost overcrowded sometimes :P

Isn't that weird.

In conclusion. I found that late 80's until 92 or 93 taming seems like a "hell level" in taming as gains are much faster later on until the 99's.
Taming "in the field" in T2A gives not so bad gains until like 89 90 real skill. Then i guess one must move on to something else.

A tamer should make as many player friends as he has been making pet friends all along. Share the wealth...it's okay. That little bit of protection will be worth it, not to mention you might meet some nice people in your alliances. Also set up a Gate macro. Don't use all kill when you do fight. Have some pets designated as guards and others as attackers when you engage other players. Hotkeys for "A Kill, B Kill, C Guard, D Guard," will come in handy. You can always do "all guard me", or "all follow me" to bring them all to attention when the heat is on and you need extra protection or to gate out quickly.

I have one button hotkeys set for these spells
Gate to bank "up"-as in the gate is up
Recall to Bank "Back"-like head back to town
Teleport "Forward"-move forrward
Recall or Gate to Dungeon "Down"-down into the dungeon

little sayings like this will help you remember your key placements.

Sometimes a recall is necessary to take a breath and dump your gold leaving your pets behind,if you are close to death recall out heal up buff up, and recall/gate back crossing your fingers you didnt get petnapped. Thats only when you think your gate will be dispelled or you are low on mana. Otherwise it is just a good clean bank drop.

Also you cast very little while hunting if you have vet on your temp, keep your ar up and have a dress macro. You could also include a sheild really. I tend to wear leather or studded, but that's personal preference.
