On a side note what does happen if you log off on a ship, yours or not and it is moved. Is your log in destination the ship or the area in which it is located? Having Never logged off on a ship before I have not the foggiest myself. And what happens if you are mid sail during last save...does the ship continure on forward if you do not stop it and log back in soon?

You just end up on the closest piece of land...which can be some interesting areas... No different then when your boat decays out at sea and then you log in.

his packets were what, 0.0034% of what the server receives? Why was this an issue?

I paged a gm because 3 guys were spamming "(NPC Name) adf" at the vesper bank, SPAMMING IT, while the npc responded with a full paragraph of text each tiem (it's a bug). this caused your journal to become full in 0.02 seconds. I paged a gm, and the gm responded with "It's not illegal to spam text at the vesper bank".

Sounds like you got OWNED by a newly made policy. It happens a lot here, get used to it. You do something perfectly legal, and you get in trouble for it because a GM decides to make a new shard rule on the fly.

No you cant spam for extraordinarily long amounts of time. And it could very well be that they wanted to make the guy think he was safe so they could figure out what he was doing.

Try being a little nicer though in addressing that. The staff here doesn't need to be belittled as your public servent you know. Ask like "Did you ever follow up on what that spammer was doing at Vesper bank?" in a post or something.

I can tell you this too man, they get a lot of crap from alot of people all the time. It's like they are Humanitarian workers in Africa that can only do so much at a time...but if you start attacking them they are going to leave you dry. Stop swatting at flies.

Quick question in regards to this; players who macro herding, musicianship, or snooping without delay would technically be packet flooding as well. Do you browse packet traffic to see which players are high on the list and deal with them, wait for other players to report them, or do you just happen to stumble upon them?

This was certainly a judgement call, but most those actions that you were referring to do have an action delay of at least one second, and musicianship is only about a 10 byte packet. The speed at which this speech was being spammed was orders of magnitude greater. There should be a flood detector on speech, but there currently is not. Drawing attention to this issue prolly wasn't a good idea, so I'll likely have to get on a server side speech throttle right away.

The boat spamming was MUCH less than that of the vesper spamming, and the vesper spamming was to a much higher degree. I didnt degrade anyone in my post, I just stated facts, and facts alone.
