Lockpicker Sabateur
Remove Trap
Lockpicking
Stealth
Hide
Detect Hidden
Tinker
Magery
This would be a temp that would remove traps in dungeons, off t-maps and houses and resets them.
Or invariably creates traps that had not previously existed.

And would be horribly red. Might be fun but risky bizness.
Re: Lockpicker Sabateur
I dont get the tinker. Arnt pickers just using telekenisis on chests? Would people actually be opening dungeon chests when they are trapped?

Two reasons for remove trap for dungeons and T-map chests...you can do it in stealth which is good on both but if you decided to just help yourself to someones treasure they just dug up while they fight the spawn you just tip toe over pick the lock, remove the trap, and start digging in.Hoots wrote:I dont get the tinker. If you happen to find that the trap had already been telekenesised and that they already started looting the chest and they are busy fighting another wave of spawn...you just tinker trap the chest and wait for them to reopen again.
Or if you stealth into a house and a ghost is protecting it or perhaps an afk resident remove trap keeps the explosion from queing anyone off you are there. And you can also reset the trap with tinker and act like nothing happened afterwards or trap other containers just to get a kill in, especially in smalls where there is little room to maneuver.
In other words I can trap your containers in your house.
There are other things you can do that arent going to be mentioned here.
If you play the villian do it classy though, be the guy they love to hate.

You jes revealed my temp brutha! And yes it's about some of the most fun time I've had in 10+ years of playin UO...a house is jes notta home til it kills ye ta death. MMM hmmm-good fun t' be had in the dungeons too...Treasure rune libraries are fun places to hang out as well-jes never kno where a gate might get ye to!
Teach a man to build a fire...he keeps warm for a day...set a man on fire...he will be warm for the rest of his life...
Re: Lockpicker Sabateur
But doesn't looting the chest reveal you? I know this is the case with TMap chests anyway. I can remove the trap and stay hidden, but I am instantly revealed when I drag stuff out. Does this not apply to dungeon or house chests?

I think you get revealed with tmap chests only if something spawns.
Having said you have worked remove trap and have the skill hiding, you should have at least tried to remove dungeon chests and looted them hidden shouldn't you?
Kind of defeats the purpose if you hadn't.
Not totally sure about the t-map spawn revealing thing, my buddy runs our cartographer but other chests wont reveal you if you drag items from them while hidden so I am pretty sure that's the case.
You will see numerous house looting threads with pics where people have hidden and looted chests from houses in stealth the entire time. Some even with it occupied!!!
And as a crafting skill tinkering can be done while hidden as well. This applies also to Detect Hidden.
This would classify as your demolitions expert or your tinker terrorist. Lots of neat tricks you can pull with this temp...every skill in it has a purpose that can be used in numerous ways and circumstances.
A good counterpart to this temp would be a stealth tracker who has stealing in order to obtain rares...
Anybody who has a good temp idea for something along those lines, or other stealther temps i.e. theif, assasin, archer, mage, dexxer, bard etc. Or, even if you want to make this temp or have it already look for the Society of the Silver Serpent (sSs) in order to make the most of it.

This template would take severe stat-loss if you consistently trapped dungeon chests.

It would also be severly funny though seeing tons of dead bodies near all the chests.alatar wrote:This template would take severe stat-loss if you consistently trapped dungeon chests.

Re: Lockpicker Sabateur
His template is a stealth dungeon picker with cart for tmaps. I haven't even been in a dungeon yet because my RT skill isn't high enough (it's only 65). I have ran several tmaps but the few times I tried looting while hidden I think a creature did spawn. Need to try this a bit more. So far I've macroed all my skills. My template is: Hiding, Stealth, Magery, Cart, Remove Trap, Detect HIdden, Lockpicking, but I have tinkering until I finish macroing RT. What's the cap for RT before you need to switch to dungeon chests? Isn't it 95ish?archaicsubrosa77 wrote:It doesn't apply to dungeon or house chests...

Re: Lockpicker Sabateur
I try to remove trap on every dungeon chest I can find...if after a few minutes I see no gain I take one step back and just pop the chest open. Usually, but not always the further you get into the dungeon the harder the traps are.
Dungeons chests are different then the chests in town or off Treasure maps in the regard that they do not damage you if you are more then one tile away as long as no one has tinkered with it.
I have never been killed by trying to remove the trap on a dungeon chest ever. Look at the guide for lockpicking and adjust your target chest for remove trap using the same guide for your remove trap level in order to get gains.
I make mental notes about where I am seeing gain and return to those places more frequently. There is some variance however and the traps are at times more difficult. Just pop the chest and move on in that case.
It takes a long while this way. You can, with a tinker, gain skill fast from tinker traps as long as the one who set it (maybe even the same character) stays within 4 or 5 points difference between these two skills having remove trap at the lower end of this.
A good link to learn more about remove trap and training your character using this method can be found here.

Re: Lockpicker Sabateur
I'm raising tinkering with RT on the same charcter. I should have trained tink / RT first because now I don't have enough skill points left to raise tinkering as high as I need it. I decided to switch templates once I found out looting doesn't reveal you (after I trained my other skills
). I'll just train detect down since it's easy to GM with my wall of trapped chests (thanks Matron!). It takes a load of bolts and ingots, but so far tinkering has raised enough from making traps to stay within range of RT and my gains have been good.
