Should there be another CUB?

ROFL. I love it. All these people saying "Yeah, we abused the HELL out of the system! We totally raped it. We DEFINITELY shouldn't have another one because it will just happen again!"

i'm being as honest as possible when i say these things because it will not increase player interaction during the CuB time period. i dont know what decisions you would have made if you were around for the last one but the people who wanted those items did nothing but farm for tickets. that is what happened. and the number of items on the server did not go down after the event. it was a giant gold and time sink.

Would it be that hard to put a stipulation on items being put into the barrel cannot be items crafted or purchased fter the barrel was placed?

placing a stipulation on items would not be era accurate (correct me if i'm wrong but i think the last CuB was just like the original one with rules on what could be transferred for tickets)

I want there to be an official "we will not be having another one" so anyone hoarding stuff in houses can just smelt it or something.

i would not expect any sort of notification as to if or when there will be another CuB. I think there is a very high chance of there NOT being another CuB. but what do i know? i'm never right 100% of the time so that is why i'm keeping pouches of magic shit. lots of them. if i'm wrong, then oh well, no harm done.

the random bags of magic armour/weapons arent the problem
there are keeps/towers stacked floor to roof with macroed items for the next cub
im ttalkign hundreds of thousands of items

i dont htink that should be rewarded

we havea save time of 5ish seconds, thats still rpetty fast
derrick ahs also said he will never let items become a problem as he jsut ups the servers capacity
im pretty sure he wont allow the shard to be held hostage by hoarders hehe

Just for all you new comers acting like CUB will reduce item count think again, if anything i remember sitting in irc typing !status every 10 minutes and the item count was increasing by the hundreds. When CUB first came into play i was like oh nice i can trash a bunch of old magics/junk. O.K so that got me like 10k points...now what? That's when the farming and massive macroing came into play.

Let's boil this down. Besides saying that one doesn't like the idea or complaining that it is too soon, please read, digest and respond to the following:

CUB is era accurate and one of the ONLY era accurate shard wide events.

CUB is coming up on it's 10th year anniversary. It would be a major loss of opportunity not to celebrate it on a shard designed to replicate T2A.

In terms of shard population, very few players experienced UOSA CUB.

The item count is nearly 2.9 million and, according to speculation, much of that count has to do with hording for a potential new CUB.

During the last attempt at a CUB, many players manipulated the system by crafting or buying new items solely for ticket value.

These actions may not have worked to reduce item count, Players have horded items in anticipation of a new CUB.

These actions took players away from normal game play for extended periods of time. More so than if they just simply emptied their bank boxes and houses.

Run one last CUB to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the OSI Event.

However, to avoid manipulation and exploitation demonstrated with the last UOSA attempt, only allow goods created the Day BEFORE the CUB announcement to be able to be turned in for tickets. Items created, bought, or farmed subsequent to the announcement will be null and void.

Announce clearly that there will be no further CUBs and make it a sticky post.

Current players will experience a CUB that coincides with the OSI CUB and can enjoy a replicated event that was central to T2A.

The former exploits will be addressed and item count will be reduced.

Item count creep, with the firm announcement of no further CUBs, will not rise due to CUB speculative activities as all players will know that the 10th Year Anniversary Event is the last and final CUB for UOSA.

Problem addressed and solved.

I'd certainly like to know the reasons from Derrick brcause all I've heard is status quo and arguments against it from a group of players who have already benefitted from the last CUB.

I understand but with that being the point of the shard, the 1 CUB in era doesn't make much sense.

Are we only getting holiday gifts 2x, no matter how long this shards life span goes, because there were only 2 christmas' over the span of T2A
