My Mage and Warrior build, what do you think?

My Mage and Warrior build, what do you think?
I want my caracters to do both pvm and pvp AND be viable in PVP for intense combat.
Here are my build for each of them:
Mage/Tamer: 100str 25dex 100int
Magery GM
Eval. Int. GM
Wrestling GM
Meditation GM
Animal Taming GM
Animal Lore GM
Resist Spell GM
Warrior: 100str 100dex 25int
Mace Fighting: GM
Tactics: GM
Healing: GM
Anatomy: GM
Resist Spell: GM
Parrying: GM (Tank warrior with 1 handed mace, good idea? it was pretty good and though in the UO Renaissance days)
Magery: GM? (or a combination of Magery and something else? Need help here for the last one)
Feel free to give me a feedback on these builds, any advice are welcome
Oh... by the way I played ''paying'' UO during 3 years, then I switched on a private server for 3-4 years. I know this game upside down but it have been a LONG time since I played it and the performance of the differents builds tend to change depending on how is coded the server...
Thank you

I'd certainly keep GM Parry. It is worth it and will be even better when macing fixes hit the shard. (Shields will take the brunt of the AR loss).SiMs wrote:I want my caracters to do both pvm and pvp AND be viable in PVP for intense combat.

GM Magery is over kill because, with 25 int, you won't have much mana for the higher spells.
Get enough magery so that you can recall with some confidence but much more than that and you are wasting regs and skill points.
You may want to think about tracking. I think 26 points is enough to find other players and enemies.
Re: My Mage and Warrior build, what do you think?
I can't remember how much Magery is needed for recall... is there still Recall Scroll??
It's 40-45 magery for recall?? 60?
Yeah tracking or Hiding can be a good match up for the remaining skill point

Re: My Mage and Warrior build, what do you think?
According to Caveright from IRC the skill required for a confident recall is:
70.1 magery using regs
40 magery using recall scroll.
Your magery may not need to be that high if you are using it for travel but if it is part of your escape plan then there's your answer

Drop Dex to 75 and Int to 50 and your first build is okay...but I would switch to wrestling instead of parry...because you will use magic to heal not just bandages and as a macer you dont want to let up you want to make sure they cant get away so need to press the attack.
If you are familiar with D&D play it like a cleric.
Cast healing, protection debuffing, travel, and summoning spells
just because you dont have evaluating intelligence doesnt mean you cant cast things like curse you understand?

My first build is a Mage/Tamer...
You are probably referring to my Warrior Macer.
If I don't have parrying, I'm gonna have to use a 2 handed mace, but with 75 dex a 2 handed mace is way too slow to be usefull...
How I'm gonna kill someone with this low damage build?

You can kill with the modified macer/mage build but you'd need to choose your opponent and timing or be relegated to support in groups.SiMs wrote:My first build is a Mage/Tamer...

Ever use a quarter staff...those things are pretty wicked and have their speed the same as a katana.SiMs wrote:My first build is a Mage/Tamer...

That's my temp actually, and I dropped str to 95 dex to 80 and int to 50.
I usually have both a one handed and two handed weapon on person just in case I need to use pots.
Rule of thumb Q-staves for light armor and mages, war mace for armor.

Supposedly, 5.0 Detect Hidden is enough to reveal someone who has cast Invisibility with 0 Hiding skill.
I typically only raise my magery base skill up to 90.1, which I believe is the amount needed to never fail a level 6 spell. I know I'm forsaking about 5 pts on each Greater Heal, but since I don't really PvP much, it's not a big deal. The other 9.9, I use for Detect Hidden, Tracking, Hiding, or some other useful skill.
