Help with Poison Macro

Post by riant »

I'm almost positive my macro itself works fine. I manually watch it apply poison to my dagger, refill my poison bottles, etc. I was a little concerned that over 30 potions or so I had only gained .1, but figured that was just bad luck. I saw myself heal through a poisoning (by a GM healer), so I knew I wouldn'g die.

The next morning I checked, and of course the Connection is Lost from server shut down, but lo-and-behold I've gained .2 points only! I figured I must have crashed early into my macroing (I started at around midnight). I login and all nine of my poison kegs are empty!

I know for a fact this wasn't a case of a friend to the tower looting me or anything strange like that. I changed the locks and locked the doors prior to starting my macro (also did a detect hidden...I've had some regs and gold looted recently so I'm really paranoid now). It just comes down to nine kegs of poisoning a dagger only yielded .2 points.

I started by purchasing my way up to 28.9 (21.7 show real). Here's the only thing I can think that went wrong: I used Greater Poison. I thought I read that was ok, but I'm guessing it wasn't. I manually tested this by apply 10 lesser poisons and seeing no gains, and then apply Greater Poisons, I eventually saw that .1 so I just assumed that was at least an ok way to go.

Do I have to use Lesser poisons at this level? I'm not doing any alchemy. My friend is making me the kegs.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Do lesser potions up to about 60, then do normal potions to about 85, from there you can do greater poisons...I have heard alot of people don't even use deadly poison to GM this skill.

Is it just a cost-saving thing? I mean using 9 kegs of Greater Poison, should I only expect to gain .2 points when starting at less than 30? I only ask because I want to make sure something else didn't go wrong. Thanks.

You can't apply greater poison at your level, you are wasting poison...you shouldn't have even be able to get any gain on it. You get the best gains in any skill when the failure is just about as likely as success.
