Off hand, without research.. Do you know of any instances where the guards ventured outside of town during our era?

Off hand, no I can't think of anything like this, especially if they were "town guards" - town guards instantly kill aggressors and when they kill an NPC, the corpse is suppose to vanish. Based on that, these types of guards have no place outside of town zones. You can always hire an army of NPC rangers and mages. In mass numbers, those are very effective killing machines.

Edit: There were some bugs, pre-T2A (might have lasped into T2A) where you could get town guards to travel into the woods near town. For example, I specifically remember playing as a Dread Lord and getting guard whacked at Vesper crossroads sometime in late 1997, maybe early 1998. I can't recall this ever happening during T2A though.

Just want to point out that we now have 15 pages of commentary on this thread "server is dead".

So ........ Perhaps reports of this server's death have been exaggerated.

Thanks Budner...I updated it...If you feel something else would be more appropriate let me know. I didn't mean for this post to blow up like it did but it does show there are still lots of passionate people...good to know. I certianly feel better and having heard form the GMs that they are working on some things is really promising.

Now we (the GMs and the Players) just need to right the ship and start rebuilding its population. Tough to do when shard newbies post on the forums and get ridiculed and called "Trammies" by some of the more veteran folk on this shard. It's hard enough getting pk'ed in game to only come the the forums looking for some assurances and you get pk'ed here.

Bring back:

CTF
BAGBALL
DBL DOM
1v1
2v2
3v3
4v4

and keep it up with the excellent pvm GM'd events!

Let's do a trial run of a return of the above events just to see the results. Don't harden your hearts.

There we go. :-P

CTF was the most fun of all of them.

Couldnt agree more, CTF would actually be all I asked for back.
The rest can be somewhat duplicated with exception of bagball.
But those CTF games were some of the most fun I ever had

Me and you have the exact same view.
Ive been saying for months. Wipe the server, put events back in, and just watch.
One of the biggest complaints is the housing, and how some people have all these crazy rares and such.
Itll never happen, but itd be interesting.

I saw something about this in another post but can't find it. Anyways, what if we could use this....sounds like it is sort of supported by runuo. Would be nice to be in t2a era with the better graphics and I bet it would bring people back. Do any other free shards support this?

As someone whose owned a few births and has spent over 6 castle deeds a few months ago on personal collection pixels, I'd play a wiped Uosa. Would be fun and probably revitalize my love for the game more.
But I'm no where near where most others are in their pixel hoarding fixation. I think most would see it as a horrible betrayal.
Question is how many 3,4,5 year vets who been supporting this place from the get are we going to lose forever...in exchange for the couple hundred unique ips we will gain from those wanting a fresh start then rage quit and move to the next new super awesome trammel server when their playstyle "needs" are once again not met?

I would support wiping the server, even as I own the museum properties with a billion gold in rares. I would then quit and not worry that scavengers would end up with any of it.

Have I mentioned how I loathe IDOCers and the whole non era accurate method that is used to do it?
