You can do this but the EV won't attack the monsters if they aren't actively fighting, nor will the monsters attack the EV (know monsters not attacking EV isn't accurate). It is truly strange to sit and watch an EV be apathetic to a screen full of monsters.

Support, Strongly Agreed.

I seem to have no problems getting the EV to curse the surrounding monsters which then initiates combat. Energy Vortexes are still extremely effective to farm with, they just won't wipe out an entire room of monsters for you any longer.

Well that's weird. Mine never does anything unless I force it to targets me along with a monster and stand behind and wall. Then when those two comes in "contact" then it will start a fight, but according the the era the EV shouldn't be targeting me in the first place. Even if you said whom have the most mana/int etc. I tried this on a Balron and it still chase me, so I would clearly confirm this with my experiences that the EV will attack the summoner (owner) in first priority. I mean why would a summoner wants to summon something to attack themselves first?
Secondly, summoning a EV on top of the Fire Temple. It would just wanders around doing absolutely nothing unless I make it target me and lure it into a mob. Otherwise they would just chill around till they vanish, which mean the summoner has to become as a bait for our own summons in-order to make it aggro against other monster; I mean without using other skills such as provoke etc.

You just need to get the monsters to walk into the EV, the EV will curse them and it initiates combat.

If you cast it right next to the mob you can usually get it to go after the monster off the bat.

That's funny because I've now watched my EV kill one of two monsters, that were provoked against each other, numerous times and just leave the other one alone.

You're doing it wrong.

I guess no point of arguing about EV since it's not working as it should be. Unless they fixes it...
I mean everyone knows how a EV acts in T2A era, but seems it's AI isn't working properly or its a really difficult problem to be fixed. I guess forget about it.

This isn't really an issue of incorrectly using EVs, they simply don't work like they used to. EVs were super for farming 10 months ago and now they are borderline useless. I have no clue if its accurate, none of the patch notes on the subject suggest anything remotely like this.
If you're going to use EVs to farm, always drop it directly next to your intended target. It helps to paralyze them first. This is not 100% though, as has been pointed out sometimes you drop it next to a mob and it goes after you anyways.
EVs currently seem to only recognize players as valid targets, possibly showing some favoritism for the caster but they will happily go after your farming buddy or gy newbies. I can't tell if this is being looked at seriously as a potential bug. As much as I love Braden, the suggestion of cast EV and hide seems to show he hasn't personally tested it and is not aware how EVs actually react in that situation. Otherwise he would know how ridiculous that suggestion is. If you hide the EV will just stand there doing nothing indefinitely.

Not if you kite the EV over the monster you wish it to attack before hiding. Then it works just as Braden described.

An EV which targets only players is definately broke.

If we needed to kite the EV, then it's broke.

*Sigh*
You're convinced that EVs are "broken" and I doubt there's much anyone can say to convince you otherwise.

EVs are KNOWN to either attack the highest mana or intelligence diputably within its vicinity to a certain range. That is its behavior described from era posts. Nowhere did anyone say...it's movement and behavior is only controlled by a targeted player character.
