You got scammed by Santa! The holiday trophies are worth at least 10x what a Tree Deed is worth!!!!
PS: songbird, your song blows goats. digitaldemon isn't a scammer. Many people have done business with him many times. I guess he'll be a lot more wary of trying to help people in the future though.
Lesson learned. Your free shit is now someone else's free shit. Let's not pretend like it's hard to make that money back, which is all you were getting in trade, right?
It's just gold. Stop crying and trying to defame a player who's been here in good standing for hella long.

Agreed to all that has been said.
The numero uno piece of advice when it comes to playing this shard is to not trust anyone as far as you can throw them. Remain skeptical at all times and be prepared for the fact that you may wind up getting scammed, even if the trade is set up via IRC/Forums. Take screenshots (PrtScr/copy to paint) of any trade conversations had on IRC so it can be shared with staff if need be.
Boondock Saint also raises a very excellent point that unless you're dealing with real-estate, vendors are the most secure way to sell things that you aren't willing to risk being scammed out of.

[quote="songbirdDigitaldemon, don't act like you didn't do this. You were shady from the second you messaged me in IRC saying that christmas trophies are only worth 100k and that you weren't interested. Messaging me repeatedly over the course of an hour or so, while trying to convince me that you "knew someone that wanted to buy them" - even though you never had them message me when I requested you to do so. In hindsight, I got outsmarted by a degenerate teenager. Getting shafted by someone because of my belief that the official IRC was a safe place to conduct trades is my own fault. I'll learn from it, namely not to play here because there are people like you running rampant.[/quote]
The only "official" IRC channel is #SecondAge, and by your own admission, "You were shady from the second you messaged me in IRC..." this occurred in a PRIVATE chat window and not in the official IRC channel. Since we have absolutely no way of knowing what really happened in a private chat window, we cannot take action. To be safe(er), you should conduct all trades in the very public #SecondAge channel.

When UO was created they created the skill stealing for a reason if you dont like it you can always find ways to avoid theifs or scams. There really no difference between getting scammed or being pked your losing out on iteams either way.

Best advice for business dealings and life in general. The problem is UO mimics a virtual world with good and bad. In fact there are ppl here in UO who help with their time and money with good deeds.
