I'd personally like it if the old "stop for a tick" to refresh swing went back in.

ironic how a server based off a single era has continually evolved with its own phases and eras
....so much so that it is completely different from just a few years ago.
my main "Taboo" is a 25 dex hallier that was once very fun to field with TTstoner, Loops, and Choppa and now is currently my least fav to play. go figure.
Playstyles come and go. its best to just adapt.... Gotta love a kat dper with reflect items, magery, and pots, or a macing hybrid with wrestle, dex suit, and L/F/GH charged wands/staffs.
Its also best to just have a character for every occasion and situation, which thankfully I currently do.
Makes UOSA mechanics more fun... Did you know a dp fencer with parry, magic warfork, chaos shield (highest ar shield) and full magic plate is the best town pvper against any other dexie? .... you just gate it in and cast protect/RA on it. Its very deadly in that genre.
BTW - i am my own damn blue healer. <3 split screen.

I don't enjoy actual PvP on this shard so, of course, a no vote was cast.
Absolutley do not find "trot while mini healing, precast e-bolt to hold while hoping for high damage hally-cycle hit, rinse and repeat" to be entertaining.
Also don't get any joy out of field PvP that involves a bunch of marathon running across the map or in endless circles around BGY.

Sounds about right. I agree 100% with nightahark's statement because it mitigated the amount of running involved. Obviously your opponent can run still but he or she wouldn't get the benefit of a charged timer.
The run and charge patch smacked the top tier pvpers in the face when it was initiated because it took pressure off knowing the hally timer down to thee millisecond.
I typed this using my iPhone, so please excuse the auto correct feature.

Why do you think this is the only T2A shard where you don't see the infamous debuff spam hally come up 24/7?
That is solely based on the fact that lower circle spells are usually reliable for spell interruptions until the point of spamming it. No other shard has ever got this must have feature right.
The mechanic has existed on OSI/EA shards since its conception in early/mid '98 til this very day.
Btw, the combat timer is still NEA. Figured this crucial aspect should be pointed out.
Do you have a chart for %?

10 - 68%
15 - 85%
20 - 99%

07 - 100%

00 - 100%
Taken from an old thread on interruption.
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=12220&hilit=debuff+ ... t&start=30
So 5 damage against a greater heal has an 81% to disturb, whereas a 0 damage spell (weaken etc) has 67%. To calculate the exact % chance of a harm disturbing someone with GM resist is a bit more tricky.

As in cycling weaps? I actually don't remember it at all but I didn't really learn pvp until UOR.
It's not in the demo, and I don't see any magical patch note that justifies it's existence. I played almost entirely during T2A and I got into scuffles quite often, but I never remember having people, even the best pvper on pacific, trying to hally-joust me. T2A pvp was slower paced, and by that, I don't mean the connection is the issue (though it certainly is).

Also, archery on this sever is severely lacking in authenticity, regardless of what some "demo" disk has on it.

I have friends on this server, who I wont name, that live and breath this style of pvp.... to me its a one trick pony and a lesser playstyle of UO in general. I treat my chars like chess peices and alternate them out depending on scenarios.
This sort of running around brit gy pvp has been done to death by guilds like ACE and believe me I was in it.
I tend to only respect effectiveness and originality, such as when I saw MYM gate in with 10 players with precasted FS scrolls and took a few players (not me lol) out. That is different from just running around brit gy with a few friends.
I DO enjoy the walking while mini healing but not any other mechanics concerning the hally mage in respect to previous time frames on this server.
IMO most hally or die brit gy personas now seem to generally be no bodies who became small time millionaires off TELAMONS CASTLE DROP who now are hustling rares at inflated prices because they have no support chars or any other means of accumulating wealth. Just saying.
..... if you are frustrated at how you are pvping, try it from another angle.

You respect a large group casting a no fail spell, hopping a gate and just hitting a target closest button??
Sounds very fun

The only no bodies are the ones who forum pvp and never log into the game. Anyone who goes to the brit GY or dungeons to pvp is awesome in my opinion.

I completely agree. I played almost solely in T2A. On the other hand, the reason I believe that the pvp was slower paced and people did not cycle the hally (IF and only IF it was possible in era) was for two reasons. First, I honestly do not believe that people were able to grasp the concept of something like this early enough to exploit it. As stated before, the era only lasted 1-2 years, and patches were continuously changing things. Second, aside from learning how to pvp effectively, people were still starting off, trying to get gold, AND trying to gain skill. I might be wrong, but I feel as though during era in 99, people were busy getting gold, getting used to the game, gaining skill, dodging pks, dodging monsters etc etc before they were going to sit at the comp for 2 days straight figuring out when to best equip a hally.
TL;DR- in MY opinion, there was just too much going on in T2A and it was too short of a time period for pvpers to grasp the exact mechanics like today. Good pvpers in era that I remember killed with just explo/ebolt/hally. PKs had it easy when people didnt have 100str or anywhere NEAR gm resist.
BTW, I absolutely LOVE the pvp here as is. Havent had this much fun playing UO since 99.

You have very good points in your thread I would like to expand on.
Not everyone had gm resist, so magic was more effective.
I'm convinced mini heal was less effective on OSI.
Most people had 25 dex, 15 with debuff, and people usually didn't eat food or drink red pots making the halberd cycle seem slower if anyone was conscious on the concept.
Also, you hinted at this, evolution of the gaming world and it's participants has obviously changed along with hardware. Needless to say everyone uses razor also.
iPhone 5 autocorrect had a field day so I imagine my post has mistakes.

The combat timer is currently NEA on the topic of the swing advancement related code and this was verified by Derrick a couple years ago.
The matter on the rest of the combat timer code is my personal opinion based on my experience working with Derrick on the code. There was a few of us that worked on deciphering the original combat timer. I was the first to rewrite Batlin's C version into C# that RunUO is written in.
