PKS want counts, Farmers want gold, Blues you bring with you want kills and loot. Might as well just pay the pks.

hunt in groups, fight back when you get attacked. 2 bards fighting back with confidence can EASILY scare 3-4 pks away, or at the very least, get away without any problems. you just have to know how not to play like a retard.

Lol yeah 2 bards 'fighting back with confidence' are only going to scare complete idiots away if there are 3-4.marmalade wrote:hunt in groups, fight back when you get attacked. 2 bards fighting back with confidence can EASILY scare 3-4 pks away, or at the very least, get away without any problems. you just have to know how not to play like a retard.
In fact good PK's wont even run in the face of getting an ophidian knight-errant or avenger provoked onto them - they'll just support eachother while they kill you.
But yeah fighting back as a general rule can be effective as long as your characters are built enough to handle themselves.
And a lot of it is simply panic - I'm not that good at PVP anymore and I don't really know what to do, plus I don't have a lot of pvp things macro'd - I mean you dont really need mini heal unless you're pvping (I have that macrod now, though)
Re: New player: This is way more brutal than OSI T2A
bards can easily fight back, and 90% of the pks on this shard are retards. you just have to be confident and not panic. granted, you're probably not gona kill anyone 2v4 when you're playing bards, but you can easily get a few of them defensive for long enough for you to make a quick get away.
if you're not convinced you can fight back on a bard, then use a tamer. no excuse dying when you have 3 drags defending you.

Re: New player: This is way more brutal than OSI T2A
Game was fun when it was new and everyone that joined was on the same playing field. Now that everyone knows everyone's tactics and how to stop everyone else, it's just a mind numbing irritation to pvp, farm, even rare hunt.
I guess I'm saying that I am over it. The server had the right idea with the T2A accuracy thing but without at least something moving forward like expansions, it easily will push people away.
When i first started here I discussed this place with a friend, basically wondering if Derrick was just running some social experiment in college or something to see how many people would put up with old style UO before quitting. It seems that quite a few people leave and quite a few people are a glutton for punishment. It's like UO hell, the t2a era. It's where we left all the people that no one wanted to play with....and i'm assuming that is why our population probably won't go into peak UO levels.
People might say that this server would get better with more population, but I can only see it getting worse when we bring new people and expose them to such levels of grief. Just continue the cycle of creating abusive players. And the forums while helping in some aspects....they tend to make it just that much worse. The IRC is the same thing, you can ask your questions and get answers, but at the same time , by entering any conversation you open yourself up to ridicule and character assassination.
I haven't logged in but for a few minutes to refresh my small house, there's no point in doing anything else.

Yet you continue to spend time reading the message board?
When Im at work I spend a good amount of time on this message board and begin to not like the game thinking its horrible. Then I get home log on go out have a good time and love the game. I think the the forums are a big place for people to complain about what they hate about the game or just to vent. One person starts then its a cluster of it.

Well i login when someone messages me to do a trade for them or something of the sort. I get on forums mainly to see if i have any PMs etc. Tabius and blackfoot seem to have everything in hand here in that front lately so it's been pretty easy going for me.

Your problem is that you think t2a is the 'hell era' when most of us are here because we thought it was the best era.GuardianKnight wrote:Game was fun when it was new and everyone that joined was on the same playing field. Sorry, I don't want to see bullshit like necromancy and trammel and chivalry and whatever stupid shit they did after t2a.
The most I'd like to see is some buffs to archery and maybe some quality of life stuff like bandage cutting.

So I wrote an entirely different reply, but after reading the last paragraph I understand what you mean. People on the forums, in game, and on IRC can be so snarky and I have no idea why. But I'd like to point out that it's the same with any other MMORPG player base that I've encountered. Still, I think those who play on this shard should be grateful. It's entirely free, for our entertainment, created by a generous man and ran by dedicated staff. To me, it's not about recreating the friendships and camaraderie that we may have experienced back in the day, but just a shard for those who love T2A gameplay. That's really what it is... and I am absolutely entertained and having fun playing the game for what it is and not worrying about the player base.GuardianKnight wrote:Game was fun when it was new and everyone that joined was on the same playing field. The player base has always had a bunch of snarky dickwads - this is nothing new. However the attitude can be a little infectious and because a lot of blues are usually assholes just scouting to PK then you start treating everyone you encounter as such.uofuntime wrote:So I wrote an entirely different reply, but after reading the last paragraph I understand what you mean. Exactly. I notice it's like this in most online games as well.Oswald wrote: The player base has always had a bunch of snarky dickwads - this is nothing new. This is true, but people are also very transparent. It's easy to spot the difference between a blue scout & someone that wants to hunt in the same area as you.

Though, I don't really find those people to be much better. 90% of the time people will start ninja looting your kills. God forbid you ping anything more than 10, or you don't even have a chance to grab loot from your own kills. I've started attacking these people as the monster drops just to get them to run away and give me time to loot.Rendar wrote:This is true, but people are also very transparent.
