I have "summoned a EV right beside a Balron and Terathan Avenger, and it still comes after me. How could a player have more mana/int than a Balron or Terathan Avenger anyways.. After casting it right beside them I would only have 50< mana. I was standing way further than the mob but the EV still thinks I smells like a cheese burger and bites me.

You didn't cast it on the right tile then.

I did. It landed a few hit on the avenger then it just switched its target on to me.
That's the reason I made this thread.

1)Attacking player for the first priority is an era inaccurate, even if it is beside the mob.
2)Switching it's target over to a player during a combat is also an era inaccurate.
3)If we needed to provoke or kite them it's also inaccurate.
4)If it does nothing after we hide and wanders off doing nothing is also another one

Lets just end this discussion here, since I don't think there's anyway of solving this through an endless discussion... :(

I have never had an energy vortex stop attacking a monster that its fighting and come after me. It has only come after me after the monster is dead. In fact, I can cast an EV on two provoked monsters fighting each other and the EV will stick on the monster I casted it on even while the monster continues to fight the original provoked monster.

Can you replicate this?

Well I guess you're the only one on this discussion that having no problem with them and it's quite pointless to continue this discussion.

Can you replicate the problem you described?

You're convinced that EVs are "broken" and I doubt there's much anyone can say to convince you otherwise.
Just because you CAN get the EV to work doesn't mean it isn't mostly broke...nor does it mean it is era accurate. I also reiterate, the current way EVs/BSs act was changed from one shady ass link. This is one of those changes that make someone go "really?"

Not if you kite the EV over the monster you wish it to attack before hiding. Then it works just as Braden described.
Except he didn't describe that.

I really don't agree with BS/EV AI here.. I would use bladespirits on OSI to farm with total newbie characters who weren't even able to dispel. If you did that here the BS would just end up targeting you and following you around. I did a lot of BS/EV farming on OSI and don't remember them ever being the pain in the arse they are here.

So this thread was created b/c the already over-powered energy vortex doesn't work the way a few people remember/expect?

Come on now, EV is the most powerful summon in the game, add to that the fact that monsters won't ever cure (unless they're redlined & fleeing from an opponent) it works just fine if you know what you're doing, and even if you don't, you can easily just lure it into the mob you want it to attack. You could kill 1000 ancient wyrms with a single vortex and all it would need to do is melee each of them 1 time and apply deadly poison.

There is nothing wrong with the summons' AI.

So a possibly inaccurate EV implementation shouldn't be resolved because Sandro doesn't use them?

A while ago I was curious of the same thing when EVs were changed. It is era accurate how it is. You need to drop the EV right beside the mob, sometimes you may think you did but infact it must not have been. You need to drop it on the tile beside the mob.

Hold up, people are saying EVs are playing poker and just chilling with monsters if you aren't there to play pinball with it bouncing it into things...

That's a broke vortex...

The changes to EV's that were made, were implemented months ago. I have seen no issues with EV's. If you drop the EV and it isnt on the tile beside what you want it to attacked it can then find another target. EV's need to be placed a tile beside.

Wrong...and I know a guy who rolls around on his own ridable dragon isn't calling an EV over-powered...get real.

The problem is, unless it is a PC the EV DOESN'T find another target. It sits on its ass and plays "pattycake" with a screen full of monsters.
