This is a good time to start reviewing some ideas about defining what accuracy is, and, how to deal with the sticky situations which arise from having a cut-off date.

Principles of Accuracy
http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=18790

Era Accurate Terminology
http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&p=165034

There are exceptions to every rule - "It's nevergood to be surprised by a bunch of strangers picking you up off the street and throwing you into a swimming pool... unless the pool is filled with naked women."

The cut-off date is 23rd Nov 1999... unless the changes negatively affect gameplay in such a way as to be exploited... or some other exception.

At least then there is a predictable way of showing exactly when and where the general rule of the cut-off date can be put aside, and for reasons that are set out before the question arises.

Remove it, on the same basis that we don't have flying boats, submarines, duping or illegal house placement. They were all unintended bugs that subtracted from the game.

Do away with passive skillgain on the basis that it should have been removed, or was removed, or that it was a bug...

then stop crying.
Passive skill gain is not era accurate for this shard anyway, it was removed before I even started playing UO in april '99. I remember reading about it, but it was never a part of the game when I played.

Skill atrophy seemed impossible to control, you could use all 7 of your main skills, not touch anything else and randomly lose skill in magery when you had something stupid like arms lore, despite not using arms lore since character creation. It just took a long time to balance out your skills. This was most notable when trying to raise stats, even if you were using a skill which raised str and int, but not dex, you'd still lose INT or STR randomly while you were working on those two very same stats.

Removing stat locks without removing skill locks is not really much of a big deal though 'cause you can just macro your stats back to perfection every night.

It's a real shame for you that you couldn't gain detect hidden inside a house :(

Great! Though I don't see anything proving that.

So what are the most important things regarding accuracy and their dates of implmentation
if you give me stuff and the dates it ran from when to when i can start to build a chart

would think pre-cast, insta hit, etc would be big ones,

I feel like people are just slinging mud at the forums to see what sticks.

If you are going to make a claim like this please back it up with something. Skill gain from zero to ten never required any difficulty to my knowledge, too hard or too easy did not apply in this special range. If you have information that contradicts that please make a new thread.

I would not have time enough in the day to respond to all the posts in these threads which are unsubstantiated, please never take my silence on posts like this as an agreement, this is a single example of this out of literally hundreds of similar posts in accuracy threads.

Update:
The skill gain for hiding and detecting hidden for a house owner/friend at < 10 skill has indeed been found to be inaccurate.
Still though, please at least provide some rationale when posting things like this because I do breeze right past them.

How do you get your stats to move around without gaining any skills?

I personally am pretty annoyed by prospect of a no-stat lock change... it seems like 100/100/25 builds won't have much trouble - dexers will keep using skills that gain str and dex, and won't see a buildup of int... mages will be able to steer clear of dex builders... but for those of us who are rocking 100/85/40 etc. keeping up with the constant changes will be a real chore. Seems like this kind of a reversion to old systems does nothing but to promote boring old cookie-cutter templates. (Boring to me.)

But, boo-hoo, oh well! I'm all about rolling with the group consensus, and accuracy is important to me too. Its just important to consider that, yes, it will be a big deal for some people - not all of us can macro all night every night. Some of us Mac users can't even get Razor working.

Just sayin'!

EDIT: I can never get the quotes to work right :/

UO Herald Patch Notes

There isn't a November 23rd update there.

UO Herald Publish Notes

There's one there but it only regards Potion Kegs.

A search for skill management, skill lock and bank weight limit turned up nothing. Where did this November 23rd cut-off update originate from on UOHerald.com?

About Lockdown Changes
05 Dec 2000 00:00:00 ES Players may now lockdown items on/near stairs that are "passable". This means they can lock down any item that can be walked over or on, near stairs.
Unless I'm missing some other esoteric update, this basically means you shouldn't be able to lock down items on the front door steps of your house at all.

http://www.uoherald.com/ doesn't link to that website. At least there aren't any links that I was able to find.

Do you have any credible sources?

update.uo.com/latest.html was the older link to the update website for UO updates. The website came on line as a replacement for http://www.owo.com (Origin Worlds Online) in April 99, and served as the main website for UO related news and updates until 2006. Obviously, the website still exists and can be reached if you know the direct URL, but there are no longer any links to that page that can be reached without undue effort (nearly all pages under the http://www.uo.com domain redirect to http://www.uoherald.com now, including the update page).
