Yea, it appears that my previous issue has to do with when I'm on a lab computer with IE8. If you just right click the thumbs up and "open in new tab", however, you can still interact with the forum system (not all that pretty, but it works 
)

So... after abusing this system to post that I "use EUO" (once again) you decide that it's abuse potential is too great?
