Pking and Good Manners

Post by Thesbus »

This is not really a whine about getting pked. It happens, both to you and to the people you do it to, that's why this server is excellent. By all means do whatever is needed to come out the victor.

What I ask and I do this myself, I am no hypocrit...Once you kill someone, loot them dry, kill their mount, rebuff yourself, repoison your weapon, etc...If you are in an area that offers no way out like Titan Valley give the poor bastard a gate somewhere accessible...chances are, they will restock and come back a bit later, giving you the chance to kill them again. If you make them use up their I'm Stuck helps chances are they are not coming back until the next day when they can get away after the same situation occurs.

In the heat of battle I fully support being a heartless jackal, but leaving someone dead and stranded is a quick way to drive off the hand that feeds you. Plus tossing a res and a gate shows you have class and humbleness even in victory

I mostly pk on a dexer, so I would be unable to gate you anyway, but If I killed you on olmanriver, i wouldnt risk 50% of my mana either ressing or gating you. 50% of the time you PK someone, another fully stocked charecter is a recall away, and your hurt feelings or being stuck is not my problem. If i fail i'm dead for 4 days+.

Make a second mage, on another account and port yourself out, or ask someone in irc, people will always gate you out if you ask.

It's admirable to see a red with some class. But It's rare, unfortunately.

Alot of it has to do with how online gaming hasn't yet reached a point where the next generation of gamers haven't been taught good sportsmanship from their gamer parents yet.

I made a post about it a while ago.

Give it time, though. Gamer generations will hopefully teach values to their offspring. And the competitive nature of online games will become more civil.

What, you want a murderer to say GG after he kills someone? In a duel, I can understand. Sportsmanship exists in sports (duels), but this isn't a sport, this is war.

War? Well, maybe a war game in the PvP aspect. We're still dealing with a competitive entertainment medium with other players just like any other sport. A game. There's still plenty of room for civility.

I consider this to be nothing more than a video game. I started out with nothing and come to think of it, when im finished playing I will end with nothing.

I will res you if you want, gate you if you need and I will even sit around your corpse to see if you want to try and get some quick revenge.

Being a pussy in real life is one thing, doing it in a video game tells me you are pissed off about being one in real life.

There are two types of pks:

1. The guy who wants an adrenaline rush and wants to make some money- these guys will usually rez unless more prey is nearby.

2. The guy that hates his RL and the only way he can vent is to be an e-prick- the only time these guys will rez you is so they can kill you again just for the hell of it.

Most of you posting have no idea's of the risk of a statloss red.

Any of my PK's are worth roughly 100k after mare vanq pots regs jewlery and runebooks.

We are NOT going to risk half our mana pool ressing you, just deal with it.

Step 1 - Make a new account / new 50 mage.

Step 2 - Place them at delucia with Gate scrolls (buyable at yew moongate) and a rune to cyclops valley.

Step 3 - Die to me, sigh, and alt-tab double click the gate scroll a few times and open yourself a portal.

Dumb generalization

I carry recall scrolls. Most places have healers (titan has em). I sometime res, but not if dumshit luca is around b/c he res kills.

I leave runes, stupid shit behind and 1 recall scroll, gg.

If you don't murder count them they are more likely to give you a gate/res. Also I agree with tekai, the thing about pks is they usually have to deal with stat loss. So saying that I think most of the time they can't afford to be standing around waiting for the ghost to show to res then waste the 40+ mana or whatever it is. When they never know how many friends you could have online or people you know to call for help right away. Also you have to consider the time it takes for them to go through your loot, which is most likely the thing they are after in the first place. Especially when someone has a lot of stuff they have to focus to sort through it all and figure out what to take and what to not even bother with. Pks run around with a lot more risk than the players do at times because of stat loss, so they usually dont stay long to smell the flowers anyways.
