Stop deleting threads in the Trade Section
Stop deleting threads in the Trade Section
Seriously, if we as buyers have to abide by the rules of no scamming and agreeing to pay whatever amount we bid for in the Trade forum, sellers should have to abide by these same rules as well when it comes to selling. Seen quite a few threads lately "mysteriously" disappear over the past week, especially a few "auction" style threads, one in particular I assumed I won but can no longer find the thread. I can only imagine that the seller didn't like the final bid, so he requested the thread be deleted. Utter crap.
Recommendation:
If a thread "auction" has ended, or the seller has sold the item, simply change the thread title to "SOLD" and leave it be. If the seller wants the thread deleted; don't. Just lock the thread and move on.
The only time a thread should be deleted if it defined as a scam, or its a month old.

Re: Stop deleting threads in the Trade Section
agreed .. I have brought this up before and there was a brief dialog on how to make this more fair for trade .. though nothing has come from any of it .. glad to see it up again.

Re: Stop deleting threads in the Trade Section
threads are never deleted, just moved to archives
when a seller puts a 'SOLD' stamp on a thread i move it to archives
if a seller pms me and tells me their thread is done and i can remove it, i do
if a seller pms me and asks me to clean up their thread i do
the scammer thread is not a place for arguement to take place
read the OP and follow the instructions
If a thread has been moved that you still need to see just pm and ask me and i can move it back

Re: Stop deleting threads in the Trade Section
This is easy, require sellers to put a min bid they will accept. If someone bids that, require the seller to sell the item at that bid or remove their trading forum priveleges.
Re: Stop deleting threads in the Trade Section
people change their minds somtimes when wanting to sell items, thats their right
maybe a friend comes by and asks for it and they give it to their friend instead for free
that plus the sheer volume of trade posts i dont see how policing/enforcing every single transaction could be realisticly possible
we would need a moderator for every single transaction that takes place, then a post confirming the transaction took place, then we would allow the person to post again in the trade forum?
i dont see this happening

Re: Stop deleting threads in the Trade Section
As long as all topics are archived and accessible, instead of removed, that should be good enough.
That way, if someone feels like a person is consistently not following through with their posted auctions/sales, it can be researched and presented by the concerned party, little policing would have to be done admin or moderator-side.

So are we then allowed to "change our minds" on buying an item after an auction ends? If so then this is fine.BlackFoot wrote:people change their minds somtimes when wanting to sell items, thats their right

Re: Stop deleting threads in the Trade Section
I don't care if someone changes their mind or not, I just find it irritating to not know what happened to a thread. Bid on a kryss, thread disappeared. Did he sell it to someone else? Did he change his mind? Was he not happy with the bid, in which case maybe I could offer more? Can't answer any of these questions because the thread is gone. Couldn't even find it with google cache.BlackFoot wrote:people change their minds somtimes when wanting to sell items, thats their right

People are entitled to change their mind, if so, just edit the post, lock if it needed, and leave it be so other parties interested know exactly wtf is going on with the item.

There is no reputation if all the proof that a seller consistently changes their mind is removed. Can the archived posts be made public so we can still search through them?BlackFoot wrote:reputation is the only system that will work here

Quit cryin, tired of the request for admins to police. Too many carebear requests as of late.
IMO not archiving the thread would solve this problem. Less work for BF = win.

Good Luck Bear is awesome son.
Re: Stop deleting threads in the Trade Section
why not display arch.. even if we had to link it to another server with the same "forum" setup .. that why post can be removed and monitored in real time ..

Regardless, if a player asks me to remove their thread I am going to.
Players also have a right to decide who they sell items to in game.
I dont mind leaving stuff, it just clutters up trade forum with dead threads
