Fatigue is horribly broken

Post by Mikel123 »

I log in. I decode a map, recall to the spot, dig it up, and begin provoking.

"Your mount is very fatigued".

This is literally after running a total of maybe 60 tiles across 3 minutes of time.

I get off, "all follow me", get on, run 20 more tiles, "Your mount is very fatigued".

Then it stops moving entirely.

An ogre lord kills me.

Now I'm a ghost and have 0 stamina, and when I try to move I see "you are too fatigued to move".

I played summer of '98 to summer of 2000. I used to run from the opposite side of Dagger, down past the shrine, into Deceit, all the way to the lich room without my mount being fatigued.
After this latest patch, if I start at The Adventurers Supplies (north Vesper), I can't make it to the bridge to get to the bank. If this was the case during t2a, I would've never even used a horse. They would've been more of a hindrance and not worth the time.

Something happened at server restart today.

Yesterday/last night, I did not suffer too badly from fatigue on my mount.

Today though, OMFG! Once you fatigue (which is a ridiculous short period of travel) you are doomed. You will fatigue again without getting more then a screen away. I've tried the "all follow me" trick. I've tried feeding 20 apples to my horse. NOTHING works. This happens even when "walking" speed while mounted with less then half my total stone weight on me. (I haven't tried without mount because the annoyance is so bad I'm just going to macro for the day.)

I don't think this is the "fix" that went in yesterday, but a bug that came up from it.

I'm also not opposed to a proper fixes for era accuracy, but I'm also guessing that a change to mount stamina went in between initial release of UO and T2A because what I've read is nothing like what I played with.

After working all night and looking forward to accomplishing stuff today I log in. Log at the Inn in Delucia and my ossie is wore out before we reach the tailor shop. Dismount, all follow me, remount, and the ossie is frazzled once again by the time I reach the stable where I was gonna pick some cotton across the way. We both walk to the bank where a GM tamer chuckled sorta. Him and his mare were in the same boat.

There is a lot to be said about being era accurate. I question, however, whether this change is accurate and even if it is whether it is needed. This fatigue change will be this shards undoing/downfall.

I stabled my ossie and logged off and am gonna log once more today to refresh my stabled pets and house. I'm not gonna blow everything off here but look for Moody Bleau about every six days refreshing pets/houses and thats it . This shard is unplayable as is and it seems like all changes are nerfs.

It seems like somehow the original TC stamina code went in, instead of what was on TC 2 days ago. Derrick is fixing something as we speak, I hope this is included because I agree that it was unplayable.

I hope it continues to be "Almost" like this personally :> I like the fatigue changes, maybe we will see more people on foot running!

Everyone looks cooler walking/running anyways, especially when you're wielding a Bardiche and whacking away on a big ol' Ogre!

Edit: Also, seriously, who the hell quits playing because mounts aren't as good anymore? Everyone and his mother on this shard Recalls everywhere they're going anyway.

Wasn't it IPY that didn't have horses? I freaking loved that, I personally don't enjoy being chased down people who are faster than me on horseback simply because of connection speed.

Thanks for the info.

I was trying to be descriptive even though it wasn't in the bug report section because I was pretty sure it wasn't what was intended.

I didn't check the TC setup, but this seemed like something a little more then the descriptions I read.

It does really suck when you're playing one char on one account and have been for 3/4 year on a shard and a change like this comes in from left field to blindside you. Seriously...think about why you would want to be able to tame/ride a frenzied ostard if he wimps after one screen. Was shooting for that as a 53 tamer - no point now.

Never played IPY but Angel Island never had mounts and it was cool because you knew the rules going in - I liked it. Being able to recall and/or gate has nothing to do with this.

I've played on two other "T2A" shards and neither had mounts. I have been completely spoiled since coming here. My remedy for this new patch has been not logging on since it's went in. I've been working and just reading the boards. I read al the complaints, and then all the fixes. Have faith everyone, in time the staff will have it all ironed out.

Okay, let me get this straight...

We have people griping and complaining about bugs that could have been eliminated if people actually took the time to test out the new changes on the test center before it was released?

it is my undrstanding that the test server cannot take Mass amounts of players, and if tons of people join it to test out up comming changes it would crash!

is this not correct?

if not, I can't say that i have ever seen the server address posted, asking people to Test the up & coming changes.

I doubt Derrick would be requesting participants for testing purposes if this was the case...

This is the problem that I have with some of these common whiners and complainers when bugs do pop up in a new patch. Gripe about the bugs left and right but don't take any initiative to resolve them before hand. It's actually rather sickening and pathetic if you ask me.

First, who are you calling a griper, complainer, whiner, etc.

Second, not everyone who points out a problem does so in a non constructive manner. Some people will bitch for the sake of bitching, while some of us simply point out the problem.

Third, from the looks of things, this wasn't something that would have been found through testing. Things seemed fine yesterday (when I believe the patch went through), but after restart things were screwy.

Lastly, someone needs a time out. Seriously Faust, your post was no better then the type of post you are complaining about. It brought nothing to the table. If I remember correctly, the TC sits at Derrick's not at some hub. I think DarkWing hit it on the head by saying it wouldn't be able to handle the load of everyone logging on. Sure he needs some people running through the changes, and I'm pretty sure he gets that. Regardless, you're right, some of us don't test the changes and then have something to say once they hit the server. This somehow makes our comments/opinions less meaningful? I don't think so.

Derrick does a great job of keeping on top of things which is why I would never complain about anything here. Anyone who doesn't realize this isn't worth the trouble, and there's no need for you to play forum police with it.

I think he should run TC on the actual server and then it can be listed right under UOSA as well, like oldschool TC :)
