Ice Island is a very popular place for people to train taming due to low threat and abundant animals you could be hitting alot of pre tames. Although right about where you are is one of the longest most boring periods in taming.

There is a sort of etiquette amongst most tamers to name your tames. Though not many adhere to this unspoken rule.

I would suggest also taming the Walrus' and Polar Bears and Snow Leopards while you're there. On this shard, gains seem much more likely to happen on successes than failures, relative to back in the day. Just my opinion. But for taming at that skill level, yeah, I'd suggest taming everything you can on ice island. And if you get the message "that wasn't even challenging", that means the animal was tamed before by someone else, and has a 100% chance of success at retaming. Rule of thumb: if anything has a 100% or 0% chance of success, you have a 0% chance of a skill gain.

I am one of the tamers who KILL everything I tame....unfortunately it seems like most of the tamers around only care about themselves, and will neither rename a pet, release a pet so you can kill it, or will they kill their own tames. Its very frustrating, and probably why OSI made sweeping changes to Animal Taming back in the day. If people would just show a little bit of respect for other players, things would be a lot less frustrating...however, it will probably never happen.

There are a few things that you can do to make your taming experience less frustrating though, and although I am not at liberty to share them with everyone, I don't mind sharing them with individuals who want to know, and are smart enough to ask me ingame.

Doesn't pre-tamed add to the difficulty, thus making it better for gains?
