NPC Colored Armor
Before colored ore was implemented, and subsequently, player-crafted colored armor, other types of colored armor were available from NPC vendors. These colors are different than those varieties crafted by Blacksmith players. This Stratics essay goes into a good amount of detail about the NPC armor:

I am not sure if these armor colors were decommissioned following the implementation of player-crafted colored armor.

Re: NPC Colored Armor
Here's some previous discussion on this topic as well: http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=477
I've been meaning to put this in, although it's debated whether this was removed or not when ore colors came in.

Thanks for this, Derrick. The quote that you posted in the thread clears up any questions:

Update: The colored plate system has been replaced with player craftable colored plate.
All plate of the colors shown below has been changed into plain iron plate.
Re: NPC Colored Armor
Strange. I distinctly remember buying assembled sets of NPC colored armor on player vendors even long after the new ores were implemented. This was on Chesapeake.
Re: NPC Colored Armor
I remember buying NPC colored armor all the time as well, and I'm 100% definite this was during UO:R at least.

Re: NPC Colored Armor
Yeah, that's where the debate comes in.
I'm pretty sure the intention was as Xena posted, and it's found elsewhere as well; but it's possible some (possibly of specific shards) just slipped though.
It doesn't make a lot of sense to have this, because it's essentially making Player Crafted coloreds of less value, so it's understandable the intention of getting rid of these hues, however it's unknown for certain when they did.

Re: NPC Colored Armor
I don't have any records to back me up, but I recall that they did stop creating the vendor colored armor, but they never implemented the 'turn old stuff back to iron' thing.
You could still find the old colored armor from players, etc. But not new.

Re: NPC Colored Armor
Blacksmith vendors always had the same certain pieces. Had to recall around to get a full set. You could put together sets similiar to shadow, bronze, valorite & agapite. I think there was a shade similiar to dull copper too.

I'm pretty sure this is how it is on the demo too, worth double checking, also they may have stocked differently upon restart.caveman wrote:Blacksmith vendors always had the same certain pieces. I bought different types of colored armor and ONLY played after colored ores were implemented
