No, there is a limit, as you've found out.

Lockdowns have no weight limit, but are not secure.

Yeah usually items that you have a lot of stock of I usually lock down on the floor somewhere, especially regs cause I like to buy a ton of em then lock em down individually. You can have 60k of each item in one pile.
