Light Level Filtering Disabled.

Post by Alex21 »

Light Level filtering in razor should be disabled.

And razor should be compulsory to play, razor features can easily be negotiated with the server and the exclusive use of razor as a connection program will assure everyone is on an even field.

It's been brought up in the past:
http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic. ... ight+Level

It's not gonna happen because Derrick does not wish to force players to use Razor.

Unfortunately will never happen. Limited Razor is actually a lot of fun and is probably the most one single thing can do to add to the oldschool feel

Sucks that we have accurate t2a mechanics, but do not strive for accurate policy's. I just thought they went hand in hand, but after looking at countless threads many seem to not agree.

Completely agree. Mechanics account for little when so many policies and outside options have been changed to override many key elements of the era. Limiting razor could be a major turning point for making this shard feel and play more like the era, even if it just started with something so minor as seeing "In Lor" again. :D

Considering nearly everyone (if not indeed everyone) uses razor already I really don't see it as an issue to require it to play. Likewise any new players, Im sure would be willing to install it in order to connect....I doubt it'd deter anyone from joining the shard. Please, at least consider this.

Razor should be able to detect things like EUO and send messages to the server if you ask me, maybe we should make a program specifically for connecting to this shard which operates like razor and can detect other third party programs much like Punk Buster.

There is such a program in the works Alex.

Derrick's pet project over at JoinUO.com will more than likely outmatch Razor by far with more capabilities and better control over the program.

This is probably why he has chosen to disregard forcing Razor knowing fully well that the JoinUO program will be available someday.

Honestly if he does anything like that I would hope he would wipe the server first.

Your poll is badly worded. It should read:

"Should we force all players to use razor and then disable light-level filtering"

"Yes : I enjoy adding unnecessary hassles to my gameplay"
"No : I enjoy not having to deal with another trivial hassle"

Weird I thought razor WAS required..
So what other emulators are we allowed to use/connect with?

Strictly opinion. Some players don't like restrictions which further accuracy, whatever works for ya.

Why would you care about light level filtering?

I used to treat UO like I treat all FPS games. I turn the brightness up on my monitor to give me better lighting regardless of the in-game filtering system.

If this is disabled in Razor, i'll start turning my gamma / brightness up again. Big deal.
