Meditation and leather/studded armor

Post by uofuntime »

Hi, so basically it sucks to wear armor if you're meditating. But by how much is meditation hindered (is there a formula)? And is it factored by your actual AR, or just the fact that you have a piece of armor on?

Say I only wear one piece of leather armor. Maybe a tunic or a gorget. Will it affect your regen rate as much as wearing full leather set (which is tooo! much)?

If so this would suck =( Simply because of the outfit selections for a (female) mage. Either be naked, black apron dress, dresses, or frumpy unisex clothes.

You can not actively meditate in studded leather or greater, passively however goes by armor rating no matter the armor type. Magical bonuses imbued by the armor or otherwise do not apply though.

With fewer pieces on you will have better regeneration.

Okay that is good to hear. So there is incentive for me to stay low on the leather armor (pieces of).

I guess this is outdated though then:

Under "wearing armor" it says you can actively meditate (with studded). Guess it's wrong? =)

okay scratch what I said...

As a rule that is the case. But there are exceptions.

Here is what it says about meditating with a studded tunic, etc

"Some examples of outfits that have a low AR but will not allow you to meditate actively are:

* Any outfit with a Studded tunic (because of the metal on the tunic perhaps)
* Chain tunic, Magic ringmail sleeves (AR 10)
* Chain tunic, Chain leggings (AR 10) "

Ah, I see. So different types of the same armor type can/cannot actively meditate. Thanks!

Any mage shop vendor usually has meditation listed as a skill they can train you in.
You will also need to meditate about the percentage you have in skill that you have in intelligence to make the best for your gains without going under 20 until after 90. You may have to play with it a little to find the right spot.

If you have meditation at 100, Studded leather will slow you down, but you will still passively regenerate faster than if you didn't have mediation. You just can't actively meditate, however.
