Hello. So I have a question about item HP and damage. I understand that when a weapon loses becomes "worn" from use, the damage decreases, right? So originally I thought if I repair it, it will be brand new again. But I've read that the maximum hp of the weapon goes down a bit every repair? So in a sense, no weapon lasts forever and you will soon need to replace it if you want the full damage potential?
Is this correct or did I read wrong from some posters?
Thanks a bunch!

Re: Item HP and damage, repairs
Basically weapons have a "durability" and a "max-durability"
I.E.> 255/255
When the weapon gets worn, the durability falls, like so. 214/255. When you repair it, the maximum durability decreases by a certain amount, depending on whether you fail to repair, and a few other factors. When it is repaired, the durability resets to something of this nature.
214/255 --> Repair Item: 241/241.
The item is then fully repaired, and will deal its standard damage at maximum efficiency, but yes, in time, no weapon will last forever. That is why items with the "indestructable" modifier are nice to have.
Also, note that no item has 255 durability, except for items like Daemon Bone Armor and Phoenix Armor, if I am not mistaken. A normal weapon usually has some random maximum durability, like 73/73.

[14:17] <UOSAPlayer4056> cr3w guild is a joke. Ran by staff members, multi client pking, this shards a joke and a half.

Re: Item HP and damage, repairs
I don't think Daemon Bone is anywhere near 255. Nothing was, until past AOS and that "Fortifying Powder".
I thought Daemon Bone was similar to bone armor, actually, in terms of item HPs.
Sandro's got the rest of it correct though, as I understand. But to be honest, you'll never really use a weapon long enough for it to get really low on max HPs, since you'll most likely die before that happens. The fast weapons though, like Kryss and Katana, break down the quickest, since you need twice as many swings (and take twice as many swings per unit of time) to do the same amount of damage as the halberd. The damage to the weapon is swing-based, not time-based.
Remember it's 5% damage loss per level of arms lore. So for PvMing and whatnot, if you're good at escaping PKs, wait until it's "suffered some wear and tear" before you repair it - it will still be doing 80% damage. If you're bad at escaping PKs, you may as well repair it more often

Re: Item HP and damage, repairs
Ah, I see. Thanks for the help. I was worrying that despite repairing my weapons, the damage would still be less than a brand new one. But it's just the state of repair that affects the damage, not the max durability #, if I read correctly.Sandro wrote:Basically weapons have a "durability" and a "max-durability"
