Why the Thieves Guild nonsense?
Just curious - the thieves guild thing was done somewhere in the middle of t2a - when I first started playing stealing was normal and it wasn't until a later patch that they gayed it up with the whole thieves guild crap because too many people QQ'd.

The thieves guild was actually added in with the February 24, 1999 patch, which is about 5 months after T2A released. This was a relatively early change to T2A and defined stealing for the era as a whole.

Not to mention it doesn't need to be any easier for thieves to steal. I love my war hammer of Vanq being able to be stolen Brit Bank but you can't steal someones halberd... unbalanced and bs... Brit bank is practically worthless with all the thieves hiding and waiting to steal then guards don't even care cause the thief stays blue the whole f'n time.... Lame anyway just people bored who want to grief... But alas it IS part of UO... too bad the community makes it a gigantic black hole because apparently there are a high number of children who play this shard. I should expect some flames from this but you know what oh well. That will just further prove my point.

Quick solution to your problems - get a character with 50 carpentry 50 tinkering (doesn't even need to be that much), and carry a lockbox. Bam your town thief problems are gone. You could also try equipping your war hammer

Yeah I agree, they should add a separate facet where you can't steal or kill other players.

Not gonna deny that stealing is annoying, but it's also era accurate. Back in the day if you stood around unhidden at the bank with a pack full of stuff you could expect it to be gone by the time you came back from using the bathroom. There's multiple ways to avoid getting your stuff stolen but most of them boil down to "don't stand around AFK at the bank carrying a bunch of stuff you don't want to lose".

Firstly - I apologize for droppin the F bomb. Secondly - I am not crying, I just don't think it needs to be easier to avoid thieves not easier for them to steal from you without penalty... outside of town I'm all about it - but at the bank crazy stuff. Anyway what I am saying about my warhammer situation is aye you can equip it but do you need to equip your halberd? Just inconsistent - and yes I said it in my post earlier it is era accurate. I don't want to be flamed just have a discussion on why thieves need to be any more annoying than they already are... people don't role-play with thieves they grief you - to the point of having to make a GM lockbox.

I'm not a trammelite man - I actually experienced the real UO. I just think the lack of respect a lot of people have here is repulsive... when 90% of you WOULD NEVER act like that in real life.... ok time for the "It's a game comments"

Learn to protect yourself instead of whining, and yes you are whining whether you say so or not.
Your inability to take the necessary steps to prevent being stolen from is a problem with yourself not with the server.

Hi total noob question here, but about this lock box thing... is it because they can't steal locked containers? how does it work? They can't steal the whole box right? The box should be over 10 stones, so it is too heavy to steal. It is locked so they cant snoop it open and get at the contents. If they steal the key, who cares, they still cant steal the box.

I am protecting myself I don't go to brit where people like that hang out. When new players start who have no clue about the rule-sets and YES it does happen my wife would like to play.... they are taken advantage of. So maybe I am speaking up for them but way to insult me big man over the internet and all. I wanted a discussion not a "quit bitching thread" which I'm not you are just ignorant when you expect EVERYONE to know all the tricks so the newb with the house deed doesn't get his first house deed stolen then say this is stupid and quit like I just watched the other night. They will always trump and abuse.... pathetic.. Want a bigger player base with more respectful players.... yea way to go on that front.
AND LETS BE HONEST - Who really wants to see thieving so powerful other than grievers. And no-one addressed why You can steal a GIANT war hammer but not a Halberd when they are already massive in damage. Is this the halberd hotline?
One more thing - razor is allowing a lot of things that weren't possible before. Making grieving more and more prevalent. I wanted to play here WITHOUT Razor I was told I would never win a fight without it... That's silly. AND I LOVE THIS SHARD don't get my wrong its the best. I just think it needs some balancing tweaks. Not a bucket full of my whining tears from me Pac.

Griefing is part of the game and very era accurate.
It hardens you and you look back after your climb up and you think "man when I was a newbie I got pk'd and stolen from but now I own a house and have 15 hookers servicing me at once".
The thing about UO is it doesn't have the grind that other games have as their 'difficulty' - I used to play EQ back in the day and sure, life was hard, but it was hard because of stupid shit like massive XP loss on death and such.
Maybe t2a isn't for the grossly incompetent, but I rather like that there's a sense of danger and risk (without being too much risk).
