New NPC's?
What's up with all these new NPC's in Britain. Knights,Spearmen etc. all clad in yellow.
Re: New NPC's?
Prob related to last nights event. Brit got invaded by the undead!
Re: New NPC's?
Aye, they are from the event. You can expect to see more defenses soon!

<@SecondAge> Several Lichs have been spotted in the Britain Graveyard.
<@SecondAge> The cause is unknown and several townspeople were seen fleeing in fear
<Vintirex-droid> Several townspeople, Not a big enough problem imo

Re: New NPC's?
Personally these things don't offend me, but how is this era accurate?
Re: New NPC's?
Yeah well Brit looks like a stockade from the Wild West. I'm waiting for Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp to SHOOT me.
To be era accurate, wouldn't it have to be a shard-specific event that actually occured back in the day?
I mean, otherwise an invasion from outer space could be a legitimate shard-specific event. Or an attack by flying monkeys. Or Lord British comes alives as a l33t PVP'er, in drag and with a super-mongbat as his sidekick, and TAKES DOWN THE WHOLE TOWN!!

Re: New NPC's?
I get what you're saying Budner, but era accuracy isn't "re-tracing footsteps"; if UOSA only did real events, what will they do when they run out of events? Bring out an expansion? ;P
So long as the UOSA team keep the events well-natured and in keeping with the era of the shard, which I'm sure they will (no floating half-machine Blackthorns, etc), then I personally don't see this as much of an issue. A non-issue, even ;P

[quote="jono1994"]ok i really think that u should add on the Elves race but still keep the original format of the game and also put in Necromancy

Re: New NPC's?
Yeah that's reasonable.
Riddle me this, though. All these new guards are doing are clogging entry/exit into Brit, taking up server space, and filling up the port-a-potties. What is the point? Where is the event? When does all the excitement start? I'm just giddy with anticipation.
I like town invasions, I'm all for them. But these guards have been standing around doing nothing for 2 weeks. Let's have an EVENT actually occur.

Re: New NPC's?
unique events are deff era accurate
seer events, gm events, some events took place on every single server simultaneously, others did not
However, you are confusing what era accuracy means.
Era accuracy refers to the mechanics of the game, not what is done with those mechanics by the players/staff
The event has been entertaining and a good story line. Best to get yourself informed of what is going. Yoda provided a link, click er and enjoy.

<IronfistMax> tell me where you are in game, and ill come thank you personally

I disagree. Game mechanics are part of era accuracy, but not the only part. In-game content is absolutely directly related to era accuracy. Otherwise, you're saying that putting unicorns in-game is era accurate. And it isn't.Budner wrote:However, you are confusing what era accuracy means.

Re: New NPC's?
In this example your taking a graphics/monster mechanics from a different era and making it a permanent addition to the server. This is obviously against the shards goals.
However, if they made up an entirely new monster for an event, say a super fire horse monsters, that would be entirely accurate. Custom monsters for events are accurate no matter how rediculous.

Re: New NPC's?
OK, so it's era accurate if it's not PERMANENT.
That logic doesn't stand the test of reasonability. If the environment I'm playing in has Nascar logos, cell towers, elephants, Mentos, computers, live baseball, paper shredders, iPods, amusement parks and spaceships, then it's ERA ACCURATE BECAUSE THOSE THINGS, NO MATTER HOW RIDICULOUS (your words) AREN'T PERMANENT FIXTURES IN-GAME? Seriously?
And how do we judge what's "permanent"? More than a month? A year? When does something become permanent?
I'm sorry, but I must poop mightily on that logic and that definition of era accuracy.

Re: New NPC's?
OSI had server specific events. UOSA has server specific events. I'm not seeing the problem - you do realize that it is infeasible to have Derrick replace the server with a time portal that jacks into the 1999 OSI servers?
Re: New NPC's?
Seers/Gms/staff used their creativity at their discretion on OSI for events. Staff here does the same. That makes event creativity era accurate. But at the core, this is not an era accuracy debate but a policy decisions made by staff debate.

Yes I do realize this, and in fact I acknowledged above 1) I don't have a problem with any in-game events and 2) that this is reasonable as long as events are "well-natured and in keeping with the era of the shard".Schtolteheim wrote:OSI had server specific events. All of which flies in the face of Blackfoot's inane argument that ANY event is era accurate as long as it's not permanent. He chooses to define era accuracy as purely mechanics; in my view era accuracy MUST include what you SEE in-game. To use an extreme, we could paint Brit tye-dye for 6 months and by Blackfoot's defnition the shard would be era-accurate. And that's just a load of horse pucky.
