Old School Graphics/Sounds
Hi everyone,
I've just started up on this site. Is there anywhere I can download all the old graphics and sounds and overwrite the new ones? Or are the graphics all server side? I'm basically talking about things like the status box (when you open it) and the little bar that comes up when you attack something.

Yeah. In Razor you can select an option to make your status bar old style. And in the UO menu you can disable the Age of Shadows targeting system (it's super ugly I think).OMGCAPSLOCK wrote:Hi everyone,

Re: Old School Graphics/Sounds
I was actually going to ask this question myself. There is other stuff like deamons/monsters and the death sounds which are different to the old UO (also the music for me). 50% of deamons/balrons look normal to me, then I get these ugly wannabe-3D models that look shocking. Razor doesn't have an option for those.uofuntime wrote:Yeah. In Razor you can select an option to make your status bar old style. Re: Old School Graphics/Sounds
I wonder if these newer models could be replaced with files cut from an older client? I mean, uosecondage.com provides the client for us, but if I opened up the original UO CD and cut/paste the demon model, for instance, into the directory of the provided client and overwrote the existing model's file, would that work? I figure its more complicated than that, but I know nothing. I know it is possible to replace all tree models with stumps; can you edit a similar file, replacing the new model with the old from an original UO cd, to expunge the new demons and get back the old model?
Re: Old School Graphics/Sounds
all graphics can be edited, and are client-side only. if you wanted to you could change out horses to beetles and ride those around (only visible to you), for example..
I've not seen any odd looking daemons in the UOSA's client installer since it was made from an original T2A cd patched up to 5.0.8.3. I don't know at which point they changed artwork but depending what version you installed or if it was the ML client, etc, your artwork could be different (and could be changed back, but would be a lot of work as opposed to just using the UOSA client installer).

Ah yeah, I'm installed from the LBR CD. No idea where my T2A cds are. Just wondering if there's an easier way to patch it rather than download the T2A client and patch from there... not really keen on that since I have limited bandwidth each month.Dagon wrote:all graphics can be edited, and are client-side only. if you wanted to you could change out horses to beetles and ride those around (only visible to you), for example..

Thanks for the quick replies guys.
Any idea where I can get the old sounds and music so I can overwrite the new ones? I kind of feel that's the most important thing.

If you've got the bandwidth, just download the client from the main UOSA page, and patch it. That would be the easiest solution.OMGCAPSLOCK wrote:Thanks for the quick replies guys.

Re: Old School Graphics/Sounds
your best bet is to download the client installer from the website... the art files are the bulk of the download to begin with so you might as well get the whole thing
also, there is a new client installer that will be released soon which includes music fixes for windows vista/7, if you can hold off on the artwork for now your real best bet is to wait for the new client installer.

Re: Old School Graphics/Sounds
I did download the client from UOSA. I didn't notice it had anything fixed? The opening screen where you log in isn't the old one and the status bar is new (razor options isn't fixing it :s). Also the little health bar below people you're attacking is still there. I can get rid of that god awful big clunky targeting system but not that little health bar underneath. Not too fussed about that though.
Mainly sounds, status bar and opening screen are my only qualms.

For the status bar and new targeting system:OMGCAPSLOCK wrote:I did download the client from UOSA. I didn't notice it had anything fixed? If you downloaded the client from uosecondage, this should work.
And just to make sure we're on the same page... you should "set up" Razor to use only the files downloaded from uosecondage.com by installing everything in a new folder (name it something like "UOSA" if you have other Ultima Online's, but in my case, it's just "Ultima Online") and:

That way, you're only using the files and art that was downloaded from here, and most of it is T2A.
I don't know about the opening screen (but who cares? it's not like you stare at it for long) and sounds (what's wrong with the sounds?). If you're using the files downloaded here, sounds should be fine. I have noticed nothing strange.

Re: Old School Graphics/Sounds
For the sounds. I meant the music specifically. Ty for showing how to do those things!
Re: Old School Graphics/Sounds
if you mean the chest opening intro and the login screen in that time period, that was changed way before our client version, no way to get that back any time soonOMGCAPSLOCK wrote:The opening screen where you log in isn't the old
as for the music .. if youve got the UOSA client youve got the correct music ..... not sure what you're talking about there. if you ever installed the ML client or another, you may have different music that it's still using.

Re: Old School Graphics/Sounds
I installed the latest version when I got an email for a free 1 week trial.
Could anyone do me a massive favour and rapidshare or attach the music files? I'd hugely appreciate it.
