Forensics

Post by chumbucket »

How does this skill work on this shard? Does it merely let you know if someone is in thief guild? Or does it also let you freely attack (even in town) those who have been so identified?

It also tells who killed someone.

Not sure if it let's you attack the thief; however, during t2a you could do a last target steal from a player and if they were in thieves' guild you would not get the system message about needing to be in the thieves' guild to steal from players. If you didn't get the message you knew the person was in the Thieves' guild and could attack them freely in town for two minutes. Not sure when this left the game, UOR maybe?

Forensics was used to tell 3 things. First it was used to tell how a person was killed. Secondly, it was used to determine whether a thief was in the thieves guild. Finally it could be used to tell if a thief was currently perma-grey.

As for stealing from a thief during T2A, a theif could only be freely stolen from when you weren't in the thieves guild if the thief you were stealing from was perma-grey (essentially because they were a criminal in disguise). Otherwise, the rules forbidding stealing from innocent players when you were not in the thieves guild stood.

Oh yeah, just remembered, you can use it on chests that were recently picked.
