T-Hunter Build

Post by snooch »

I was thinking of making a Treasure Hunter with...

Magery
Meditation
Provo
Musiccccccccccc
Lockpicking
Cartography

I am unsure with the 7th skill.
(Leaning towards hiding, however I looked at Doogie Howser's build and he seems to be pretty successful with resist as a 7th, also would consider wrestling?)

Also I have a char with 100 magery, 100 med, 100 provo, 100 music... (0 lockpicking, 0 carto)

Would remaking a char with 50 LP and Carto be cheaper, knowing I plan on getting up mag/med/prov/music anyways?

Thanks for any help/advice!

*EDIT* Removed question of if mining was needed, I found answer on another post.. that it just increases dig radius (I will not be using this as a 7th skill)

definitely no reason to remake a char w/LP & carto. LP is very easy to macro to 95, and carto is easy to raise from purchased. if you have a 4x gm char, definitely use him. I also recommend hiding - I dig up the chest then immediately hide on mob spawn. that gives me time to line up health bars to begin provoking, then I LP the chest, walk away, tele it, walk back, collect loot.

DH is also good if you don't feel like spending a month recalling around working up lockpicking to GM for L5's. I considered wrestle/resist, but I just don't find them quite as functional as hiding.

It is definitely cheaper to increase LP and Carto than magery for example, so I'd start there. Buy the 30 points you can from NPC's for both, and macro away on locked boxes and regional maps.

As for the 7th skill, I don't have meditation, I instead use hiding and stealth, as it is much easier to stealth through dungeons to get those last 5 points in LP. Once I get them I might drop one or both for meditation and/or eval int and/or Magic resist, not sure still.

stealth is kind of a good call actually. I wouldn't bother w/eval - it's between resist and med imo. I prefer med on my thunter.

Speaking in IRC and such I think I may aim for...

100 magery
100 meditation
100 provo
100 music
95 lockpicking
99.5 carto
60 Detecting Hidden
45.5 Hiding

(As my carto/lockpicking get closer to 100 I will increase my hiding and remove DH)

This build will allow me to decode/lockpick level 5 T-Maps/chests right?

It should, but 45.5 hiding is pretty hit and miss, and if you plan to hide from spawn you will miss bout half the time.

Also, IMHO, 60 DH vs. 5 LP is a waste of 55 skill points, better to save those lvl 5's until you hit GM LP, and use the 55 points in something else, like hiding.

With 95 LP'ing can I pick level 5 dungeon boxes, but not level 5 T-maps?

I figured with the extra boxes from picking level 5's it would be quicker and I could eliminate DH as it rises.

If I only couldn't pick lvl 5 T-Maps, I could easily hold off on that because I only have a handful of those anyways.

Yes with 95 you can pick all dungeon chests.
