Old Longsword Graphic

Don't flame me if this is way off base or just plain wrong, but I found a longsword with the really old graphic for it. Is this actually rare or just junk?

There is a thin and fat version of the longsword, both available at the blacksmith. At least for my client, the thin longsword is the same as the one in your screencap.
