I guess since people keep responding to this question about Housing, I need to edit.

There is still space for houses larger than a small.

There are tons of places for smalls. There are a decent number of places for L-shapes and bricks. Kryptonical does not want anyone else to have houses larger than that unless he gets to wet his beak.

ROFL, actually I finally got the house I've been after so I'm not really in the 'housing scene' as much, as well have been slowly getting rid of my houses. Down to 4 large houses, the rest are just smalls in key locations.

To the op: honestly I have NEVER just come across a plot of land that you can place a large house on, but if you purchase the right houses you can usually get what you want, or what I did is just camp houses that are going to collapse and take that spot

Due to the saturation of the housing market, you usually do not have to pay much over deed for a house that's already placed. I very rarely see L Shapes going for more than a deed + small.

You can also pay someone like Kryptonical a small fee for a location that a larger home can be placed. That is how I was able to place my L... I searched for days for a nice spot to place with no luck. I wasn't thrilled with what was currently being sold in the forums, but Krypt hooked me up with the an location.

[edit] after reading krypt's post.. maybe it wasn't him that helped me, but someone did, lol.

If I knew of one, I'd tell you, but I don't. The housing/placement aspect of this game is not for me.

Are you dead set against paying someone for a placed house or for placement services? You can usually get a good house for the deed plus a small deed...or somewhere in that range. I know it seems like extortion...and it is, but the topic has been beaten to death. There is no sign that housing is changing. Everyone admits that housing was impossible on osi servers and its just hard here..not impossible.

I suggest checking the trading post to see if someone is selling something you would like in a price you would pay, also contact known house placement "specialists"(read house horders) ALWAYS USE A TRUSTED BROKER to conduct any house deal!!!

People need to invest their millions of gold somewhere; why not the housing market?

No you can always place one yourself. Houses do decay. :D

Noone if forcing anyone to do anything...your being coerced! You could always do it the way i did it. Find a spot you like and plop down a small, Next wait till the house next door falls and place another small, repeat till you can fit your larger home in the space you have accumulated. I did this next to a castle once. After the castle changed hands the owner wanted all the land around his new castle...so he traded me his large brick near another town for my L shape on his land... plus gave me like 50k to sweeten the deal. I also did this to place a patio in a nice location. It took me months to wait out the guy next door. When he finally dropped his house i placed a small in the spot and went to buy the patio deed...by the time i got around to place it someone had squeezed a small in right next to me...more months of waiting for that to go away. Houses are an investment of time as well as money. :)
