Re: i am a new player
Someone please find and link the Mike13 whatever guy's guide that has everything from house secuirty to ready bags in one post?
That is the single best thing to link to a new person
Also Matron doesnt scam noobs, cA is extremly noob friendly. They scam people after they get the hang of it and get into hoarding mode.
Edit : Rose please make me a new sig, Blackfoot kicked me out of UOH due to us murdering people to much =)

I fully recommend reading through the information in this post:
http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7418
It's quite lengthy, but it will get you caught up on how things work here. I also agree with Matron about using IRC, there are a lot of helpful players in there that will help you out.
And though Matron has been known to scam a few people, you should be wary of anyone, not just one player. I have also heard of her being helpful to people starting out, so it's a double edged sword (Seeing as most players here both help and scam/grief people, it's almost a norm)
Otherwise, welcome to the server! Hope you like it.

Re: i am a new player
Ive seen runescape but never played it...looked like a less graphically advanced UO.
So you never played UO...and have NO experience with it at all? If that is the case be prepared for a steep but enjoyable learning curve. I guess the best piece of advice i can offer is that "you use things with clicks and double clicks." For instance if you wanna use your dagger to skin a sheep:2x click the dagger...1x click the sheep...Wanna open a door 2x click it... Have you tried walking around yet? For some reason most people i meet that NEVER played UO have a difficult time learning to walk and run. New players also dont realize that it will take away 10 stamina points(dex) if you try to push past/through something...even a little bunny rabbit, so start with at least 14 or more stamina.(if you didnt snoop someones backpack till your dex goes up)
IRC has as many jerky people that couldnt be bothered to spit on you if you were on fire as helpfull people that will log into the game to meet up with you and help you out.(admittedly i havent been in there in a while.) So be prepared for that and dont let it get you down if you hear some " Lulz, Nubzor Go back to Wow". Someone will help you eventually, just dont pester.
Finally, as far as Matron De Winter goes. She is the Mistress of a guild of self proclaimed bards(read Rouges) Their exploits are legend and the l337 pvpers dont care for it much at all and will downplay their style at every turn. They (cA guild) have always been helpfull to those that are new or unestablished, however, once you get your head screwed on straight they will be there to unscrew it for you. She is also a known cuttie in real life and if you tell people you spent the weekend "adventuring" with her you will be the talk of your town. Most people in the l337 pvp crowd will go to starting locations(like gravyards) and kill you for your 300 gold and 2 amethists(gems), kill the mount you finally had enough gold to buy and take the gm(grandmaster skill) weapon that you found at the bank before they call you names and refuse to help you ressurect or get back to town.(dont let that get you down ...its just a game and it would lose some of its appeal without the risk those people pose...its been tried.(trammel))
Welcome to the shard, hope you like it and keep posting questions in this thread and let us know how you are progressing. Why dont you keep a journal! You start the game with an ingame book in your backpack that you can type in, you dont lose it when you die and id love to read it in a few months.
