Item Decay on Boat

Item Decay on Boat
Just wondering what the item decay time is (if any) on a boat. Just as an example, if I am loading boards onto the deck of my boat for crafting, how long will they stay there, or do they not decay on a boat?

nothing decay's on a boat.
One exception may be "Newbie Items", they have recently been patched to decay on a house floor if not locked down, I would assume the same for boats.

I've only ever had one thing happen, and that was a chest fall through the ship and get stuck out in the ocean.
