Yes you can tame them and you can bring them with you too just only through certain passages.

You can tame them and bring them back. Theres only some entrances/exits that allow animals to come through. Ice Duegon/Delicuia/North of Minoc all allow animals to enter and exit.

Its just the Moonglow teleporter that you cant use.(pretty sure) There is a sign there...says something about turning your pets inside out if you try to take them through!
