Question about Scrolls

These take your mana when used, like any other spell, right? So they just replace regs, and allow you to cast higher level spells?

For example, provided she has the requisite 40 mana, a caster with 60 magery should be able to make a Gate using a scroll, yes? Does fizzling kill the scroll?

Wish I had the cash/skill/time to figure this out on my own, but alas, being new with no friends is tough! Thanks in advance.

Yes.

Does fizzling kill the scroll?

No. The scroll is only used on a successful cast (Although worth mentioning I think a 'blocked location' result still uses a recall scroll).
