I started my new character with 50 magic resist and 50 magery, as these were two things I knew I'd have the hardest time training (even though I only want 60 magery in the end). This left my healing at 0. I've had an NPC healer teach me up to 30ish, and can heal myself when nothing is attacking me, but the gains are not great, and every time I try to spar with an NPC, they overwhelm my healing abilities.
Any suggestions? What's the most effectiveness way to strengthen this skill when its too weak to use?

When sparring with an NPC, heal him not yourself. Give the 'all stay' command after you begin attacking him with a weak weapon (or wrestle) and he will stop attacking you back.
Honestly, you should have started with 50 healing. 50 points on resist is a waste and I don't know why it is recommended so often. You can get from 30-55 resist by walking through fire field very quickly. Don't know if this has changed since the patch for resist, but I'm guessing its still effective at this level.

Can anyone verify this still works?applejack wrote:When sparring with an NPC, heal him not yourself. Give the 'all stay' command after you begin attacking him with a weak weapon (or wrestle) and he will stop attacking you back.
