New player starting

Post by turkishmafia89 »

Hello everyone,

After many years, probably about 10, I have decided to come back to Ultima Online. It's the one game that I remember being the most intricate and in-depth, unlike other water-downed mmorpg's that will remain unnamed.

I have just a few questions, well I have many questions, but I'll ask as I remember, its been a very long while.

1) How balanced is the mage vs. warrior?

2) From my understanding and what I have read, this shard strives for Second Age accuracy, does this mean that lumberjacking won't give an additional bonus to swordsmanship?

3) Here is the template I had in mind, what do you think? :
swordsmanship, tactics, healing, anatomy, parrying, resisting magic, magery/med,

Lastly, would it be too much trouble to ask for some help in getting started? Just a full spellbook and maybe a runebook?

Thanks very much in advance.

1) Right now, most people tend to go the mage way for PvP as it tends to be a bit stronger. I think properly played dexxers have more than a fair chance to defend themselves. From what I understand, the proposed changes to PvP to make it more accurate will help both templates, you just need to adapt to a different playing style if you use a mage.

2) Yes on accuracy, and yes, lumberjacking will not give swds a bonus.

3) That is a fine looking template.

I don't know how many people give hand-outs, but a lot will help you along the way so you can reach your goals.
