Pack Animal??

I just spent the money to buy a pack Ilama mining , with great expectations to fill that sucker up and not have to worry about the low weight I can hold. I have 33 iron ore in it and it wont take another single piece. This seems kinda low? is this the norm?

It was changed from 400 to 1600 stones after our cutoff date. Try using small ore to squeeze a little more use out of your packy but you're better off drag mining, recall mining, or boat mining.

Drag Mining is just stacking all your ore in one pile and lifting and dropping it all the way to a forge to smelt into ingots, since you cant carry 500 ore...or more than 30 or so for that matter.

Recall Mining cuts into profits..you need enough magery to recall when your full of ore. You can recall to a forge and smelt the ingots then recall back to mine more. You can recall to the bank and just stockpile the ore for smelting later. Or you can combine Drag Mining and recall mining into Gate Mining, with enough magery, where you mine tons of ore then cast gate, drag the ore on your cursor, then hit a razor macro that clicks a moongate for you .(easy to record yourself clicking a moongate and change to double click by type:assign to a hotkey)

Boat Mining is simple enough to figure out, Get a boat and find a spot you can mine from the water. Keep your ore in the middle of the boat or it will get pirated. You can put hundreds of ore on the deck and use another tactic to get the ore to your destination...there are even forges you can reach from your boat in some places.

All of these tactics have their advantages and drawbacks...I personally cant stand mining, even with elaborate systems to make it a bit easier. Some people are talented enough to make razor macros that will perform most of the tasks involved with mining, including recalling to a forge, smelting and recalling to the bank. UNATTENDED RESOURCE GATHERING IS A BANNABLE OFFENSE. And noone will show me how they do it. I cant even get a guy to walk up and down a path without desynching problems.

i use drag/gate mining.

i have an alt who is just sitting at a forge with a runebook to like 15 different spots around the covetous mines. i gate the miner in, mine out the entire area, just dropping the ore at my feet. then i run around combining all the ore and leaving it around the spot where the rune is marked.

open a gate from the alt, smelt all the ore, and gate to the next spot. by the time i've circled the whole mountain, the ore has respawned, i think. idk, i only got mining up to 95 and it was boring as hell.
