Resisting Spells stuck at 65!

Hail! I'm new(ish), and trying to build Resisting Spells on my Warrior.

I have created a Mage, who casts on my Warrior (who continuously bandages himself).

Flame Field took me to 50.0, Lightning to 65.0.

My Mage has now cast Energy Bolt 408 times (his Black Pearl dropped from 1076 to 668), but my Warrior's Resist has not moved from 65.0!

Granted, my newbie Mage fails a lot on EB. If we assume that he succeeds only 25%*, that would mean 100 EBs hit my Warrior.

My Mage has:
Int = 85
Eval Int = 100
Magery = 66.7

Am I using the right spell at this stage?

* I believe there is a table somewhere that shows the % chance of casting a spell circle at various Magery level, but I couldn't find it. This is a guess-timate.

hey the spells you're using are correct have you checked all other skills are locked and the ones you don't want are on decrease?

You're definitely using the right spells. Even though skill gain is much faster at 65 than 85 for example, with just 100 casts, weird things could happen. Keep going!

Also, I believe chance to resist (and thus gains) are heavily based on the magery as well as the spell circle. So maybe 66 magery is too low to gain resist well at that same level. Most people here tend to train resist using mages at a much higher magery by that point.

Keep doing ebolt with the mage though, and his magery will go up quick enough.

Is the mage you have casting GM eval also? If not, getting eval to 100 first might help.

I suspect that Mikel123's comment on Magery and low cast sample may be the issue. I'll shall trudge on with another 1000 casts and see what happens.... (will update this thread with the results).

After a week of no gains, I've realised that I'm not gaining on any skill... I knew I was at the skill cap, but thought that I had plenty of misc skills that could drop. I finally checked my Real Skills and found that all my misc skills were actually at 0.0, and that I have 9 skills set to either raise or locked. D'Oh! There was no room to move!

Apoc was right... I wish I had checked my Real Skills a week ago... * sighs *
