NPC escorts?

Post by Lupos »

Hi all,

I remember back in 99 I was able to escort seekers of adventure quite frequently and I'd find them all over the place to escort in reasonable numbers. I'm yet to see one here. It's not that it's great money, but it feels like something is missing!

If I'm deluded and looking in the wrong spot let me know.

Thanks

I agree with populus. Someone else might have picked the npc's up just before you.

I had the best luck finding them by running around the very edges of towns, especially Nujelm.

Hmmm that's odd. I've seen Nobles all over the place however they don't seem to respond to "destination" or "I will take take thee"

Working as intended?

Some nobles don't want to go anywhere :)

It tends to be the stationary NPCs that want escorting. I last escorted an NPC two days ago so it was working then.

Jill is correct.

If the NPC is walking around, s/he doesn't want to go anywhere. ;)

Actually... they should be stationary, AND facing north.

(someone posted a link to the Imanewbie cartoon the other day... one of the first dozen or so mentions this).

It's been a while, but I think they will also have the "[frozen]" tag displayed over their names.

They also won't respond to the "destination" keyword if you already have an escortee in tow: the fix for this is to tow your existing escortee(s) some distance away, and then gallop quickly back to the new one and drop the "destination" keyword; if you're far enough away from your other escortee(s), the new one will answer.

I will remark that they are not spawning in the same "escortee hotspots" as they did in-era (used to be, in-era on Chesapeake, that you'd find 5-6+ clustered at the southern tip of "main" Jhelom; none spawn in that location, here and now on UOSA).

Off the top of my head, you should find some in the SW district of East Britain, and near the "Virtue Hall"; in Moonglow, North of the teleporter hedge-maze; everywhere and anywhere on the main streets of Trinsic ... I can't think of any other locations where they can be found with any reliability.

They don't necessarily face north.

I'm pretty sure Derrick fixed this a while back.

That was my point, yes.

I don't even know what we're arguing about.

Nobles should have groups of 4 guards that spawn when they are player attacked
