Flagging criminal when attacking grey, how can that happen ?

i just (in Jhelom Bank) attack/kill a grey (definately, not turning blue in the moment) NPC and get guard whacked.
- no criminal-action-warning despite this is set.
- the NPC corpse grey too

Under which circumstances can this happen ? Its rly confusing, never seen that on OSI or anywhere

are you sure he was grey? there are some players that have there Speech hue set to grey, they walk around saying their own name, making it appear that they are grey. just to get you Guard Wacked!

no it was actuall grey 100%
i stabbed at it 2 or 3 times with sword, and the npc also colored grey, just like a grey-one does

i think someone was training at this npc /w all guard. but im not in party or guild of that guy. can that still be the reason ?

okay i can reproduce this. it happens whenever there is "guard" on hired npc (hired by and guard on someone else of course)

question is: is this just on me (client problem ?) or is it "normal" ?
