Silver system

Post by Alex the Artist »

It's been brought up in other threads, but I can't find any dedicated threads that debate it.

So, should the silver system be here?

In my opinion, it's not era accurate and shouldn't be here. It's attached to a non-era accurate tournament system. But, let's just concentrate on the silver system in this thread. Someone can start a 'regularly scheduled trammel tournament system' debate in another thread.

I propose the silver rewards be done away with. Give people some time to clear out their stock of them, trade them in for goods, then be done with it.

Whilst I don't like the entire duelling system due to era accuracy, its suprising how many players really get involved on this. I think alot of players stick around for a chance to prove themselves.

The competitive nature that this system encourages I think is great for the shards population. It creates tangible rewards and records for duelling and PvP prowess. The eye candy doesn't make a player more powerful and most if not all of the rewards replicate items taht were attainable in the era.

These types of events were run by GMs on OSI and I feel that whilst the regularity of PvP events is a little much the silver system reward simply replicates many era accurate rewards. I won't deny there are a number of things I'd like removed but if this reward system was removed the incentive for many players to get involved would be removed and chances are you'd end up duelling the same 10 douchebags every night.

The silver system is a shard added thing approved by policy set by staff.

It's not really era accurate imo. It's a somewhat fair way to award players for participating in events over time and "earning" rewards I guess.

Overall, I wouldn't complain if it were removed entirely.

Yes, we might lose some folks who simply play for events, but in the end I think it's for the best.

I think it would take trammelment goers out of their comfort zone but they'll get over it. And if they quit....when who cares?

Oh no, we lost a player who is never even seen outside instanced events!

This is my take on it, from a thread in the second page of this same forum.

Search is a powerful tool.

From that link, I gathered:
As far as Silver goes, I agree, cut down the Silver handed out in events, let's see how it plays out.
Everything else was 'event' related, which belongs in a different thread. You could have just retyped that instead of making us read that large screen of text.

People who log on for events are still logging on and adding something to the shard.

My opinion is important on all issued shard related and thus you should be thankful for the opportunity to have read it.

If we remove the silver system, we should consider other ways to get the rares that one can achieve with it. I must admit that the furniture dye tub is ridiculous on this server and I don't ever remember it having "charges"

How is it possible to "not see" this thread? It is stickied...
