Stealing while Riding

Post by CABALLERO »

Well I know this is a T2a and you guys dont wanna change a lot of things but this one MUST be changed!!!
This is the most ridiculous thing ive seen in my 8 years of UO life...
Thieves cant steal something from u while they are riding...the pvp is getting fucked with that, when u are dueling someone to have some fun a bitch just come and steal your bandages, pots, weapons...whats the fun?
I played in a lot of servers and I think this is the best one because I like simple things but staff you cant close your eyes for that...
that MUST be changed quickly!

Yes man thats the point, we can move on if the thief is walking but we cant move on while we are pvping if the thief has a mount and can run more than you...only way is stop fighting and run from the thief, but i am not gay and I wanna fight

welcome to UO bud. thieves have always been an annoyance. and they always should be. taking away the ability to steal while on a mount would not only ruin the stealing skill completely, but it would also affect PVP in a negative way. some people PVP as a thief and rely on the ability to steal reagents, potions and weapons from their target while fighting. as im sure you know PVP between 2 guys, one with a mount and one without, the char on a horse is guaranteed to win every time. why ruin a perfectly era accurate PVP template just because u dont like getting robbed? not everyone in t2a plays a tank mage.

heres a tip for u, put ur reagents and bandages in a locked box inside your inventory. that will usually prevent this from happening.

try keeping things in layered bags instead of just directly in your backpack.

Or.. Trammel.

Can't they still steal it from you no matter where its at? All they have to do is trigger the steal skill and click the target cursor on the player. They then will randomly steal something.

Cabalero,

You will never kill Smithy. No matter how much DP you have, I will always get your katana. And your bow. And bandages. And regs. And rune. And this will leave you vulnerable for when a pker comes, then I will loot the rest of your belongings.

I'm going to have to agree with Cab here in a way.

Since the removal of spell damage in town the only way to kill these, noskill, macro all the way to gm thieves (this is not accurate) is to get close enough to hit them which is also the same range where tehy can steal your shit. There is nothing you can do

Edit: Oh, also... you absolutely could macro stealing back on OSI. I had thief/macers on 8 different OSI servers. Made obscene amounts of money during the big housing changes. You'd be amazed at how many people would attack you for stealing their house deed, even if they had absolutely no combat skills.

Cabalerro,

You clearly have no grasp of what you are dealing with. A thief with no wrestling and no evaluating intelligence should be a walk in the park for you. Smithy isn't even a PvP character.

It is also clear that you have no grasp of how a thief operates. It doesn't matter if your katana or bow goes into your pack, as soon as you arm it I have set it as last target and will be taking it from your pack, your pack within a pack, or your mother.

this seems to be the problem no?

A thief should have to snoop the bag the weapon is in to get it...

So if you had a hot bag set up burried 10 bags deep items should not be able to be Last targeted out of that.

I think that is a fair statement but as i dont play a thief im not sure how that affects balance.

I think if a character is grey and in town... they should get full spell damage. No spell damage in town sucks because of all the thieves.

Thieves should not be completely countered by bag nesting. Unless you want the packs to be persistent on the screen instead of closing when you step a tile away.

Any other way and the stealing skill becomes useless, which is the mistake that OSI made. They overcompensated for the idiots who fall prey to thieves and rendered the entire profession useless. It's one of the primary reasons I quit OSI in the first place.
