edit: just checked skill cap, thats not the problem either.

Re: Meditation
You need to start using more mana before trying to meditate. I got stuck at 62 too using the magic hat.
You'll GM it while GMing magery and resist

Re: Meditation
didnt drinking ale and getting drunk in game cause mana to lower? it lowers your stam here, i thought it made you stupider and lowered your mana. makes much more sence then lowering stam. i could have sworn thats how it worked on osi.
also drinking a bottle of ale lasted much longer than only 2 or 3 *hics* i believe.

Re: Meditation
Yeah, I believe you are right. Us orcs were always drunk but we still chased around the humans, lol. Course, its possible we drank refreshes but I don't recall.kill drizitz wrote:didnt drinking ale and getting drunk in game cause mana to lower? it lowers your stam here, i thought it made you stupider and lowered your mana. makes much more sence then lowering stam. i could have sworn thats how it worked on osi.

Re: Meditation
also, i think this is actually a bug. i am gaining wrestling while not attacking. passively gaining wrestling while another monster attacks me and im tabbed out. i thought you had to actually be attacking and doing damage to gain wrestling.
and yeah im almost 100% sure it was mana being lost while drunk in game. i vaguely remember using this on osi to gain med.

Aye, this is another passive I'd forgotten to remove. Thanks.kill drizitz wrote:also, i think this is actually a bug. i am gaining wrestling while not attacking. passively gaining wrestling while another monster attacks me and im tabbed out. i thought you had to actually be attacking and doing damage to gain wrestling.

I don't have any recollection on the alcohol. I'll see if someone can test this on OSI or demo. I doubt it's ever been changed.
Re: Meditation
stam and mana i think you lose from booze
edit: i think you 'lost' from booze

Re: Meditation
meaning that mana was also drained from booze right? i seem to only remember mana not stam being loss, but i could be wrong.BlackFoot wrote:stam and mana i think you lose from booze

Re: Meditation
Back on OSI, being heavily drunk would indeed drain your mana. Although, in order to achive the mana loss associated with being drunk you had to be pretty drunk.
But on the note of being drunk and mana, back when Meditation was origonally put in there was a bug associated with it for a short while where you could gain the skill extremely fast. The bug supposedly stemmed from when the meditation check occurred. After the skill was introduced, attempting to meditate while drunk would give you a message akin to (I forget the exact wording) "You are too drunk to focus your mind". If you recieved that message you were barred from attempting to use the skill, much like hiding too close to your opponent. As a side effect, you would also circumvent the skill use delay as well. According to the only real theory, Meditation would perform a skill check to see if you would gain on the skill before actually attempting the actual meditation check. As a result, people could effectively attempt to gain the skill very rapidly, while maintaining the low to nonexistent mana requirements for higher skill gains by being drunk. The net effect of this bug was that players could GM Meditation in a few hours.
Obviously we aren't planning on placing this bug on the server due to its limited existence, but I figured it would serve as a good anecdotal piece of evidence for explaining that booze made ya stupid while you were drunk.

Re: Meditation
that seems fair enough. i really think mediation should be looked into. i am taking everyones advice and trying to GM this skill. it really should not be more difficult to GM than magery....
im out there with platemail on, draining my entire mana pool, and it is again not moving past 74.6... its to the point where i dont know what to do. i have a macro set to useskill every 5 seconds (i know its an 11 sec wait) but i did this to make sure i keep medding while the plate keeps it low. i keep casting, but it doesnt matter. i know you guys (gms) would not agree that med was harder to gain than magery at any time in uo, including t2a. crazy ridiculous.

Re: Meditation
I just tested alcoholic beverages on the demo. The effects of alcohol would in fact decrease stam and mana. The effects essentially looks like it is based on the same sort of timer that the stam and mana regen regain uses. However, the timer looks like it is about half of what the normal timer is. The furthest I ever got after about a few minutes of drinking 100 or so bottles of alcohol non-stop was -2 of my base stam and mana on there. The normal stam and mana regain timers are still in place as well. So it would technically sit there ping ponging back and forth on the semi faster and typical stat losses and regains.
Re: Meditation
There really needs to be some info added to the med guide. Wearing armor doesn't make mediating more difficult, the difficulty is based on how short you are of mana. If you have 100 int you will not be able to med as all with < 26.4 mana if your skill is 74.6. You should target meditating at around 30-40 mana for best gains, and you'll continue gain if successful as your mana increases (still based on difficulty on each tick)kill drizitz wrote:that seems fair enough. i really think mediation should be looked into. i am taking everyones advice and trying to GM this skill. it really should not be more difficult to GM than magery....

Mediation should be much easier to gain than magery, it's just an issue of understanding what determines difficulty.
Re: Meditation
I just tested the effects of alcohol on UOSA and it does indeed hit both your mana and stam, it's just with 100 med the mana regens so fast you'd never know it, it just bounces between 99 and 100.Faust wrote:I just tested alcoholic beverages on the demo. The difference between beverages is substancial, try liquor.kill drizitz wrote:didnt drinking ale and getting drunk in game cause mana to lower? it lowers your stam here, i thought it made you stupider and lowered your mana. makes much more sence then lowering stam. i could have sworn thats how it worked on osi.

Based on Fausts findings, I'm making some adjustments.
