Good Stealth/rare hunter template?

Post by fdtreece »

Hiding
Stealth
Detect Hidden
Lockpicking
Stealing
Remove Trap
50 Magery
50 Tracking

What do you think? Is 50 magery enough considering I hope to not become visible the entire time? Also, is remove trap worth the trouble it seems to raise? I'm mostly a warrior/bard player and never had one of these roguish types before so I'm hoping this will be viable to mess around making money in the dungeons/towns and collecting rares without drawing any attention. :) Thanks!

If i'm not mistaken only chests from treasure maps will require remove trap, I think dungeon chests will pop without hurting you if you're a step away. I never gmed LP so I don't know if level 4 dungeon chests work the same way

Well, I have heard arguments that remove trap is useful for removing traps on chests in player housing without being detected, so it would seem to be useful in some situations. The magery is great for recalling home with loots, though I could suggest greater magery to make gates so you can go back and forth between a house you are looting.

Of course if you aren't going to thief houses, I would guess remove trap is questionable in usefulness. You could easily spend the points in magery and tracking to give yourself both survivablility and forwarning.

Yeah that's a good point, I could always track before triggering the trap to make sure no one is around and have more magery too. The idea of being able to do everything hidden is appealing though...

i personally think 4 are the main skill one needs on a stealthy character:

hide 100
stealth 100
mage 90 (at least)
wrestling 90 (at least)

the basic go-where-you-want-and-do-what-you-want skills.
magery can even be lowered to around 70,althought i prefer gm instead.
start from there and build your template accordingly to your specifics needs.
