yea 8 per is about standard. 7 is considered cheap, 9 is considered paying well. there have been a few instances that they've gone for 10 but that's stupidly high since you can buy them from the npc for 10-11 per. i would say that the safe range is 7-9.5 per since below 7 you might as well sell to the NPC and above 9.5 either buy from the NPC or mine for yourself.
