Selling bulk stable spots, jokes on us. DERRICK HELP
I can't adequately describe how angry this makes me. when i can literally for a week recall to every stable spot and theres not one empty spot. i have 3 stable spots on my gm tamer. because someone from K^A was generous enough to give them to me.
something needs to be done, it's a joke. a horrible joke at everyone on this shards expense. as long as you can get stupid amounts for stable spots there will NEVER be stable spots for the average player, especially not for a newer person who wants to stable a mount for god knows what reason.
i would ask that no one bid on them but it's not a solution, i would ask to verbally abuse people who hoard them and ostracize them but it's also not a solution. something needs to be done or theres no point in having stables for 95% of players and 99% of casual players.

Re: Selling bulk stable spots, jokes on us. DERRICK HELP
You know... it's kind of an odd thing... yes, policy from OSI was to have stables with a number of slots that was finite, and they could (and did) fill up occasionally... but I don't remember it being as prolonged and extensive as it is here. I know I personally never had an issue stabling pets, but I think I frequented the lesser-used stables in 1999-2000.
Anyways, if this situation came about in 1999, I'd believe the situation would be resolved manually after some short period of time. I realize we're not *necessarily* replicating policy here, but following the rule of "mechanics but not policy" to absurdity can lead to an experience that is also a far cry from T2A UO.

Re: Selling bulk stable spots, jokes on us. DERRICK HELP
exactly, if a stable was full the next one probably wasnt. where are all the NEA ****** bags
Re: Selling bulk stable spots, jokes on us. DERRICK HELP
kander, the issue is not the selling of stable spots. it's the innablity to find stable spots. selling is just a consequence
Re: Selling bulk stable spots, jokes on us. DERRICK HELP
This has been an issue for quite some time.
Just be patient. I worked my way up to 10 stable slots. I don't need any more than that. But whenever I refresh my dragons I check to see if there are additional slots available and about 25% of the time there are.
This isn't going to change so there's no use getting so worked up over it.

Re: Selling bulk stable spots, jokes on us. DERRICK HELP
theres no way 25% of the time theres extra stable spots when i can go to all of the stables 5 times a day and not get a single one unless they don't upade until someone pulls something out, which is irrelevant because i cant get one in the first place.
and i disagree i think something will change

This is beating a dead horse as this issue has been brought up plenty of times in the past.
Sure, it's a pain that there's no stable slots, but it just makes you work harder to obtain and keep those slots. It's good for the shard.

yea but tbh mate its pretty lame for new players how it is.Ragancy wrote:This is beating a dead horse as this issue has been brought up plenty of times in the past.

i still think tamers should be able to only run around with a mare + 2 dragons max (yea yea UO:R but rlly a important change). its just a mess that ppl do farm with 50+ dragons and block a whole dungeon room for anyone else or stable spots for young and old.
i dont get it how a totaly bs mechanic that is accurate somehow is more important to kaivan than enjoying the game. i dont want to come up with that "delete runebooks, gates horses etc" shit so this whole stable drama would even make any sense.
i dont see how this is good for the shard in any case doesnt matter if era accurate or not. there is a reason why osi fixed that.
Re: Selling bulk stable spots, jokes on us. DERRICK HELP
My first day I worked hard to buy a horse, and then wanted to macro... I went to stable the horse so I wouldn't lose it... no slots.
OSI didn't have as much of an issue because there were many shards and you had to pay for your account. Here it is free, so if you aren't playing actively any more but you have big animals like Dragons you will just log on once a week and re-stable them, no extra $10/mo for digital hoarding here!
I never remember having an issue stabling my horse for the night, especially in Brit where there are two stables, but here it is impossible...
What do most people do these days? Trap their animals in a house where other people can kill them?

Re: Selling bulk stable spots, jokes on us. DERRICK HELP
Obviously T2A on production server never ran long engouh to reach this extreme, the consequence of this accuracy is that this mechanic turned into something that has nothing to do with how things were back then because obviously it ain't accurate for T2A to last so long...
Re: Selling bulk stable spots, jokes on us. DERRICK HELP
I also think that back in 1999 the limitation on total stable slots was most likely due to wanting to cap data storage, as large arrays of data stored in memory could easily become unmanageable when you had servers with 128mb of ram.

Re: Selling bulk stable spots, jokes on us. DERRICK HELP
One point is that it's a slippery slope to ask admins to come up with some FIX for this lame but otherwise era accurate mechanic.
The fix would be either make stable slots unlimited, cap it per player, or something else.
The problem is that the next annoying issue will likely result in a similar protest as a result of the success of the stable issue and ultimately more fixes which move us farther away from T2A.
I originally complained about the stable slots, too. Then I realized if you check in the morning, you have a good shot at getting a stable spot. Also, if you a patient, they will become available, and you just have to hold onto them.
There are a few folks who farm with 50+ dragons, but that took a LOT of work to get there.
The stable issue makes playing a tamer more challenging/annoying, which IMO is not bad since they are by far the most powerful PVM char.
It sucks most for the newbs who just want to stable a pack horse or llama, but we had the whole Stable Spot giveaway thread, where people would donate spots, and that turned out to be a failure as no one was really asking for spots.

Re: Selling bulk stable spots, jokes on us. DERRICK HELP
Personally I am fine with the way things are. I am all for mechanics being accurate.
Think of it this way.. if this had started happening on OSI (which it did to some stable masters) OSI would have seen the problem and fixed it. Now, in fixing this they would have changed the mechanics (as they did) to something outside of our target time frame. They would not have gone around deleting stabled pets.
While I agree having a cap on stabled animals is an annoyance, if we begin to alter the way our mechanics work due to player complaints and not based on era accuracy we begin to slowly do what OSI did with the game. The only solution I see is possibly increasing the amount of stable slots or even adding in more stable masters to player ran towns (as was era accurate). This would not fix the problem but would at least make it a little more difficult for people to fill the stables and refresh all of their pets every week.
I'm glad we keep things accurate and not easy.

Imo accuraccy reached his limit in this scenario. Production T2a never ran as long as our server did and they most likely didn't have the ressources to keep it unlimited.
Limited stable spot is one of those bug or annoyance you don't want to preserve. It serves no purpose, the mechanics to balance this kind of market are not there. The way the server handle the slot is a pain and force you to zerg the stable with random stuff early in the morning.
As for tamers being nerfed, this is hardly a valid argument. If you had time to gm a tamer you likely have time to browse the forum and buy a fuck tons of stable slot with that easy money you're making. It's not like training taming has because any easier with the years (quite the opposite as i seen) This is more a general gameplay issue, a general annoyance of a feature that is now failling horribly. The tamer ain't nerfed he is just very annoyed because switching animal ain't fun. The new player is pissed because he can't stable backup mounts (that's me 1 week ago).
I was looking for a Uo server last week and i decided to give uosa a try since i knew about it, i played like 10hours 3 years ago. I almost gave up when i saw that post on the forum about limited stable slots. I was like, wtf i am supposed to do here as a new player if there are veteran out there that won't even let me stable stuff without paying them lol... If you don't fix this for tamer fix it for new players...

Also as a tip, If I can't find a stable slot for a frenzied, mare, horse, whatever, just transfer it to another character. We are allowed up to 15 characters, so that's essentially 15 'stable slots' people can use without even having to visit a stable.
