Archer Mages and PVP

So are archer mages a viable PVP option. I know at one time on OIS they were good. The heavy crossbow is the hardest hitting wep in the game just also the slowest but with cycling wrestling and weapon that shouldnt matter right? Are the played here or is it all tank mages? Is there a mechanic Im not thinking of that rules them out?

Bows can't be cycled with wrestling. That's why you don't see many archer mages around.
